Seeimingly indistructale radars
« on: August 18, 2025, 07:33:51 PM »
Been running into it lately. I drop many dars with a D9 a single pass, some just will not drop, even with 3-4 passes and canons run out.

Edit: Sorry wrong page,.. owell

If dar strat is down I make it a point to take dars. They seem as vulnerable as they always have been. Maybe there's some sort of glitch at particular bases or on a particular map?

The hardness of every structure is viewable by all in game and can be different for each map.  Havent heard of any of the map makers making any changes other than the recent ords debacle.

I added some bullet proof paint to the radar towers.  Blame me.  :devil

Always thought radar was too easy to kill....

Or if it's that easy to kill the down time should be half what it is now imo..

I suspect terrain error, other dars drop as normal, select few aren’t going anywhere. They are rare, butt started running into them about a week ago.

Dars are just simple metal towers, they are not concrete hardened structures, they should be able to drop. Its just antenna.

I think its just a bug in certain ones.

I think if something is disabled with mg/cannon fire it shouldn't be down as long as something that is totally destroyed with bombs...

Radar towers were destroyable with canons in real life. Hell just a bullet hitting a wire would shut it down. Sorry bud, I disagree. All ya really had to do was hit the component at the top.

Bast to aim at the base of a radar as bullets can pass through the actual tower portion.  Like auto ack lethality, hardness of radar is an arena setting IIRC.

Exactly what I do. Like I said, I take out a lot of dars, nightly. Once in a while a tower won’t drop no matter what I do. Maybe 1 of 20 dars do this. I literally unloaded entire D9 ammo on the base, it laughed at me. I usually kill dar, deack town, and have ammo left for a cpl kills. Thats normal.

Edit: thats what I did right before those 7 kills, 5 with one wing. Ya can’t blue print that stuff, that will never happen again. I could only pull a wide circle or straight, they just kept showing up in my path. That was freak, we were dying laughing on comm. I mean I kinda suck, that made it even funnier.  But ya, I had enough ammo after dropping dar to do that.

So gun fire creates the same damage level as bombs?

Just saying it would add a twist if dar wasn't down as long if damaged by gunfire vs a bomb..

Same with ack positions..

On a tower.. in RL you just have to hit the components that make it work. The stricture matters not, unless it was brick or concrete.its absolutely destroyable with guns in RL.
You field guns should protect it, as they do. Notice guns right near it. Hell, ya had 51s straffing train tankers. You can take down structures if ya hit em enough.
