Wouldn't it be nice?

If long time players had a gentleman's agreement, to avoid being the 3rd man into an already 2v1 fight?

Assuming this us about the game,…

I always ask “ you ok with that guy?” If they say yes I don’t inject myself. That would be stealing s kill. 2or3 vs 1 is not fun for the target, he gets no fight.

I’ve had 6-7 trying to catch and kill me. Lil over-kill.

It seems not many of those kind of players are left. I would stay out of a 1v1 unless it looked like my countryman was about to die. I figure anybody that jumps in on the side of the 2 in a 2vs1 is just desperate for a kill. It makes me think that maybe the score/ranking thing encourages this type of behavior or maybe most of the players that are left feel that their score/ranking is the gauge by which their skill is measured.

Most don't die in ma 1v1 these days..

If you're lucky it's just a 1v2..usually more..

What's needed is the ability to switch sides much sooner than possible now..like a 5 minute delay, not hours like it is now..

I can see ganging the late war birds but it's sad to see late war birds gang up on a lone early war plane...I had that alot this month..

I regularly ask if he’s OK, but might add you look defensive so coming in unless you don’t want that.
Sounds good in principal but achieving it is another thing.
Far too many, if not most, people on this Board post just to say something opposed to posting when they have something to say.

You guys are still missing a point, for those players trying to "win the war" in either a offensive or defensive mode, they are trying to kill any and all opponents. That is how most of the 3/1 5/2  melees happen that I see.  :devil

3-5 on 1 is pretty much unacceptable game play. Some just don’t want to retain players. Someone has to pick one, ya can’t have both

Again, no excuse matters, if its not fun they leave. They don’t wait for excuses, excuses are for those who read here, after the fact, most don’t

I say they miss the point :)

This is true, for the most part.  If you want to win the war, you have to crush the opposition.  I understand that.  I don't like it, but I understand it.  Animal speaks for the sportsmen, like me, like Eagler, and many others.

AH needs both types, as it does the aviators and the truck drivers.

I've found that when I get frustrated by pickers, gangers and vulchers, I can usually sit back, take a breath, and try again.  The taking-a-breath part, and remembering that this is just a game, are key.

Snuggie is a victim of his own success. Everyone wants a piece of the P39 killing everyone. Ya gotta love those guys that fly what most won't and kick butt doing it. I fly heavy most the time, and if I hear him in the area I level out and go the other way  :rofl  :rock :salute

I saw your P-39 last night from my Emil. You were already in a 2 v 1 so I left you alone and went to the carrier. Got gunned by some girl in the 5 incher while trying to 1 v 1 a Seafire.

Some fates are worse than being ganged...

I think this is key. Most folks dont even realize it because they are so desperate for a kill. Ganging a plane 3 on 1 is poor SA. Drawing three 3 planes to the deck removes alt superiority from 3 planes. If your team can capitalize on that, its a win for the team. Not really you though  :rofl. The "dogpile phenomenon" I like to call it. I noticed this in Combat Challenge furballs. Planes come in high, chase low planes, then high planes chase them. And eventually everyone is low on the deck chasing and gettng dogpiled. Rense and repeat. Once you understand how to counter the phenomenon, then you have a better chance at staying alive and getting more kills. But without friendlies, I think ganging has ran more players out of the game than anyone can imagine. Its why so many play FSO but not as much in the MA, until Friday night when its popping till 11. Thats when AH feels sorta like it use to.

It is never necessary to triple a player, much less them be in a midwar or earlier plane. I cannot stand it. I have a what looks like a great fight, and then some 190d gotta be zooming through or a yak3 to catch me so him and them can jump on in when I dont make it easy on his first pass, just bring the konga line, and then I put 18 rounds in em on the overshoot and do nothing half the time. It makes AH so much damn harder. No one has a chance against 3 190Ds and a yak3 with a spit16, NIK with 4 cannons and crazy climb, and let's throw in a Temp just to really make sure they dont have a single chance....

Its why ive practiced the art of defense for over a decade. Getting a shot on the overshoot and pulling reversals is the key to having a chance in those situations.  Most players dont want to learn defense tactics or understand how to avoid BnZ noobs. Most just grab the easiest planes and do it too because they don't know another way and dont want to ask and learn. Back when I practiced with all the AH Jedis in 06, there was never any beefin and fights weren't in jest. We were all learning the art of ACM and practicing it. Now look at what the MA has become. No one even talks about ACM. Theres no place to even practice it anymore. The art of ACM is dying. I dont know what to do, but unfortunately AH cant have unwritten rules and dignity in fighting in the MA.

You bascially said it the other day Caldera and I couldn't respond.  You said that's how its always been. And you're right. Its just harder than its ever been i think because of lack of #s. Makes it really easy to get ganged by Uber rides with no friendlies around to help. I wish I could make a rule but what can ya do? Unfortunately the phenomenon is natural instinct, untrained, and there's no way to train them..
