Many here don't know my current situation except the AK's. Back on June 6th, I underwent an amputation on my right foot and ankle due to complications from Type 2 Diabetes. Been in a wheelchair since.
Next door neighbor is selling his late mother's house and was giving away items he can't sell. Specifically, a battery-operated mobility scooter and a walker with wheels and handbrakes. I get my prosthetic foot and ankle around first week of September.
With the scooter, I can leave the house.
I have been to McDonalds and KFC. They have brought me my tray of food, refilled my drink (KFC) and even open the door for me (KFC). Taco Bell only brought me a refill and it took several minutes. Everyone is super friendly when they see an amputee.
I do enjoy watching small children stare at my missing foot. Lack of tact. Bless their little hearts.
It's a shame. You lose body parts and be placed in a chair to get better service and friendliness.
