I was in favor of no payment for college players. Its college. You work your jazz off for nothing. Only in hopes that it will give you a better life. They should get the free scholarship which is already a huge privilege saving a hundred grand atleast. Like Spikes said its going to be awkward when they turn pro and dont get paid as much. That might affect their psyche in some way. Idk, we will see i guess.

A free degree from often times a well renowned institution, free healthcare from university hospitals and clinics, free room and board (steak, lobster, etc.), life changing notoriety and contacts, free on the job training and stipend money just wasn't reward enough for a 2.5 GPA ...

Should’a kicked for three.
Could’a not let the balls drop.
Would’a beat Tennessee,
in their home of Rocky Top.

Ug. My beloved Wolverines got stomped by USC.  Looked surprisingly bad on defense.

Welp.

On to next week.  Best not to let last week's loss beat you 2 weeks in a row.  Time to get up for Washington.  :aok

(Arkansas O / Arkansas D) + 3 = the opponent’s winning score.

We didn’t lose by 3, but with all the field goals our defense held Auburn to - it still feels like it.

Another lost opportunity against a team simply better at “not losing” than us.

So many teams fired head coaches this season.  Lots of spots to fill this year.

LSU (Brian Kelly after hiring him from Notre Dame in 2022, $54M buyout)
Penn State (James Franklin, playoffs last year, 10 years as HC, many good years, but bad this year, $50M buyout)
Florida (Billy Napier, $20M buyout)
Oklahoma State (Mike Gundy, 20 years as HC, many good years, but not recently, $15M buyout)
Arkansas
UCLA
Stanford
Oregon State
Virginia Tech
Colorado State
UAB
Kent State

I picked Arkansas in a pick-em pool because they've played a lot of these ranked teams very close. Bummer to blow it vs. Auburn. But it's tough to win when they gifted Auburn 10 points in 2 drives.

I thought the hogs would take that one. They have played everyone tough. Mistakes made doomed their chances.

Saban retired and Oklahoma enters the Tuscaloosa (SEC in general) like King Thranduil and his elf army showing up to the Lonely Mountain the moment Smaug is slain!

Again with the missed opportunities and turnovers. We played just well enough to barely lose to my most hated team in Baton Rouge who seemed to only care enough to barely win. If nothing else, I would have been happy with the whole season had we pulled that one off. Now as it stands we are currently 2-8 and dreaming about what could have been 8-2.

I had hoped the Mayan 2012 calendar would have ended the World…. not Arkansas football power.

Not sure who the transfer portal, NIL, and SEC expansion (2012 & 2024) has benefited - certainly not us. From the time we joined the SEC in 1992 to 2011, we were averaging a record of 7-5 overall and 4-4 in conference with four SEC West Division wins. Since 2012, that average has tanked to 5-7 overall and 2-6 in conference with four of the worst seasons in Razorback history. Teams like Missouri and Texas A&M have actually increased their overall win average by one game since joining the SEC in 2012, though their respective conference records did not significantly change. A lot of this is due in part that prior to 2012 we received a lot of our talent from Texas and Oklahoma players seeking to be a part of an SEC team and be somewhat close to home - no longer the case. Coaching/staff shakeups since 2012 have largely failed to get any clear direction and stability, fanbase can’t get behind them when their answer to poor performing seasons is “keep your chin up and smile!”. Other programs have certainly been able to better capitalize on NIL and the transfer portal dynamic, we seem to be the ones watching talent go.

They need to just split all 136 teams up into eight mega-conferences. Winner of each conference championship form your ‘elite 8’ of the national championship bracket. Simple as that, so no one can claim unfair bias being under ranked or over ranked. The hiccup of course being what to do with independent teams.
