Objectives Made in Public Post
« on: October 05, 2025, 10:10:11 PM »
They are made for both sides to plan.  They aren't top-secret knowledge.

With the last frame's scheduled CIC not letting anyone know his orders weren't being unable to complete, the last minute rush becomes a burden on the event planning.  This has happened many times in the past.

Posting the Objectives and Map will allow all to know.  That way, should another no show on Orders happen.  There will be plenty of players to respond quickly.

Just my 2 pennies.

Personally, I’m not feeling like objectives getting posted is solving a problem. Right now, at least 3 members of every squad should be receiving objectives and know their responsibilities. If a squad leader isn’t handling it, one of the other 3 should be stepping up.

If a CM asks another squad to step in at last minute, things have really broken down with at least 3 people not doing their duty.

As for last frame, I saw no orders had been sent out so I was in the process of stepping in when I saw the post in the forums changing CiC duties. I still feel like small 3-5 squads have drawbacks when a critical member is out of touch, but the general process we have in place should be sufficient.

Having 3-5 size squads generally means every squad member must be willing to step up as a CiC. I’ve tried to train my squad to do that so they can handle times I’m not available and I think they have done well when they have needed to step up.

If other squads don’t have the depth to cover a missing squad leader, I’m willing to hold sessions in zoom or the training arena to teach what needs to be done. Being a CiC is not terribly difficult and can be as little or as large a time sync as you care to give.

Have to agree with RedBeard. If the squads officers aren't able to handle the duty for whatever reason, why would a normal participant have the desire to? Not saying there aren't people willing to, but I'd imagine those people are few and far between.

CIC is not like it once was, imo it is incredibly simple to do now. As said above, one could spend as little as 5 minutes on it (assign planes, draw a line on a map, send) or hours if they so choose. It is unfortunate CIC comes up about every other month for squads, but at least they are no longer responsible for dealing with 15 squads, 10 planes with mins/maxes, and 3-4 offensive and defensive objectives.

Fwiw, I am not opposed to posting them. Just not sure it would help in this situation much.
