It won't happen simultaneously as AI is needed now and climate change is a never ending war right?

Unless we go all in like China we will lose the so called AI race..

China doesn't have the political swings every 2 years like we experience and their state run media is farther along..

China isnt as strong as you think, they have tons of propaganda and our own news agencies who prop them up every day. Hell, they gave Trump more crap about Covid than damn China where it was created and released, then they lied about the bat market and still didnt get an ounce of trouble for murdering millions of people around the global with a man made bioweapon. This is why I consider our media and Intel agencies a national disgrace and also "in on it". I consider them scum and cowards. China is nothing without the US.

China does not have the innovation that springs from a free society. They do have discipline and purpose that we lack. There may never be an AI singularity but rather an incrementally long ongoing advancement in this technology. I think they will lead in that before long.

Are you saying you admire their system more than ours?

Are you saying we'd be better off with dictators for life so they have plenty of time to get stuff done?

And yes, we need a Manhattan style effort to launch our country into the AI economy and security age.

I understand it scares people and I understand many fear for their jobs.  Those fears are legitimate.

My problem is behind their posts is always an implied argument, "So, lets just stop now and not do it."  That is not feasible.  Not if you want this country to survive.  Not if you want to avoid bending a knee to Chinese masters.

And yes, we need to pursue modern nuclear technology.

Nukeular power sounds great but no one wants the waste in their backyard. Fusion power may be the future.

We have young people acquiring insurmountable debt for non STEM degrees which will not provide a good return on their investment. Is the skyrocketed cost of higher "education" a result of inflation or a contributor to the cause?

No time to wait around for that tech..

Yes China is setup to make tech happen much faster than we are as they don't give a crap about anything from the climate to its own citizens..

If it is truly a race, I don't see how we could win it without a delay thrown into the mix for China..what that delay might look like is anyone's guess..

Sorry.  National Security.

Put the nukes on some of the millions of acre of gov owned land in NV etc and pipe the power.  co-locate datacenters on leased land right next to the power.
On gov land, easier to secure with military.

But sure, fusion when you get it.  But modern fission nuke design is still a hell of a lot better than coal.  Those Natrium reactors produce a lot less waste than the old designs.  It's not the 70's still.

Everyone on here seems to be supporting the use of oil products. They have computers and phones. I imagine they drive. Even if EV, they are on tires and asphalt roads. Those seats and that dash.... probably plastic or some other derivative of oil. But they are carrying a sign...

No need to put all our eggs in one basket. May the best energy source(s) win.
