just curious about the complexity of art work and getting the modelling to do what you want.

I was in the MA the other day, and i read a discussion you were having about the Tanks and M16's going faster on roads if and when they are modelled. I've also been told that you guys as well as guys from WWIIOL are descendants from WB. Well, this is where the question comes in:

I looked at new screen shots of WWIIOL

and wondered, "wow, that looks great but does it work yet?"

Is there any relation to what "they" are doing over there versus what you guys are building at HTC? In other words, do they have roads that work for vehicles?

this was more of a curiosity of how close in the modelling AH and WWIIOL are. So, if you have any offerings to fill my ignorance on the above, it would be greatly appreciated but not neccessary...

thanks agina HT, love the sim, simply love it.

A screenshoot means nothing, I can send you a "screenshoot" of my simulation (will take about 1 hour to produce), with the highest graphic standard possible, but really, it has to work to.
I donīt think that WWII will be up before next year and by then everyone being intrested in it, already turned to AH, to experience good quality sim with a lot of cool gameplay.

Mason, I have no idea at what stage of development WWIIONLINE is, thats a question for them.

But to answere your question game design is always about trade offs. Weather it's just a technical trade off. Speed vs Looks great. Or download size vs visual goodies.
Or resource trade offs. What can we implement with the time and people aloted.

Every game designer would love to be able to build everything they invision, but in the end you make discisions based on all the implications of each componants, as to what is most important to implement in any game.

On a side note. One of my favorite expresion from Players is always, "Im not a programmer but"

When your realy making this stuff, some things that seem complex from the out side can be 10 mins of work. Things that seem simple with out knowing the internals, Could take a year to write.

Interesting reply HT, I've got to say, I like the respectful way HTC comments on other simms. On 'another' board the programmer might have taken this oppurtunity to throw some jabs at his competiton.

"What about when a Designer says it?"

Designer working hand in hand with the programmers, they know more then people
who not involved in the game creation, whats maybe possible and what not.
But the Programmer has the last word.

Thats my expirience as a designer in the game industry.

I think there is plenty of room for both simms as well as crossover. Two different idiologies of game play each with their own following.

I'm not a programmer, but I play on on AH.

I'm not a programmer, but let me tell you what you should do............
