With all due respect, if we can't 100% participation for same country, then why bother doing it?
Why don't the other 13 squads change to rooks to satisfy VMF-101's requirements? My squad is dedicated to Knightland, but we certainly won't have a problem changing to Rooks if that's what it takes to get 100% participation....
Ripsnort,
I don't want you guys feeling hostage to the Nightmares and that is how I would feel if you switched to Rooks. It was a completely random choice as to what country the TOD Assault would fly for as it should be to avoid any problems of country bias. If you all switched to flying Rooks instead of Knights, basically all 13 squads are doing it make one squad happy and I don't believe that is right. After all if the TOD squads ever do this again the same situation would arise and you guys should not get locked into flying Rooks just because of us.
In addition, the event is tomorrow and I know you guys have worked a bit on getting the word out to all the people involved to fly Knights tomorrow under Raubvgl, Blue Mako, and Ripsnort. It would sort of be unfair and probably cause you a lot of headaches to try to change countries and modify you plans on such short notice.
I posted here on the board to tell you guys we would not be participating because I thought it was the upfront thing to do instead of just not showing up. As I said I could not command my guys to switch countries and none of them volunteered to do so while I turned a blind eye. In light of this I just thought it was the honest thing to tell you guys that we would be over defending Rook Land.
We have not animosity toward TOD squads or this event. Its just that we have a tradition and all of my pilots are bull headed (to say the least).
As for Rook Land feeling picked on if you attack Rook Land .. don't worry about it. We know we will be outnumbered but the Nightmares VMF-101 and our sister and allied squads will be waiting for you and will do our best. We actually sort of look forward to such a big fight if does come our way.
We sort of feel like the guys at the Alamo.
We digging in and expecting the worst but there is always a certain charge (adrenalin rush) that goes along with fighting against the odds.
