The river rising to swallow the Ringwraithes and their horses was not originally done by the elf that saved Frodo (Glorfindel I believe in the book). The river is controlled by Elrond only (Agent Smith) and the horses in the spray were an addition by Gandalf (the poosie according to Swoop :D )

Now if this isn't the most anal, dweebish, geek ridden post of the day........well you can go quote Monty Python!

No I didn't, that was Nath.  I just said Frodo was a snivelling little wuss and needs a slapping.

Glad i lived long enuff to see film special effects technology grow to a point where middle earth could be made so.. so..

*sigh*

looking forward to seein the seige at gondor... and the battle for helms deep. Book 2 was the best one I think.. lotta action. :)

I agree with swoop.. and would add the sam needs a good squeak slappin too.

same as in the book from that standpoint. :)
The price of Freedom is the willingness to do sudden battle, anywhere, any time and with utter recklessness...

...at home, or abroad.

Im very interested in how they will do the battle at gondor. It's a very involved and violent battle with thousands of people killed. I read a PJ quote where he said the 2nd movie is more violent and gory. I'm worried it will be cut short like other important scenes and the violence will be removed. I'm not one who HAS to have violence and gore in movies but I think the siege highlighted how terrible war is. To cut it down would lessen the impact. Can anyone cast any more light on this?

Tolkien himself reads from the Two Towers in August 1952 here .

Good stuff.  Amazing how much his rendering of Gollum sounds like Yoda.

Actually Star Wars is based on a Kurosowa film...(and yes you gotta look it up 'cause I spaced the name).
