It might come to you as even a bigger surprise that also in the REAL mindanao there are rooks, bish and knits fighting bloody fights to the end. It must be the only place in the world with constant WW2 era airwar going on. The warriors don't know anything about diplomacy so they constantly insult eachothers.. I don't see a chance of a peace anywhere in the near future.
