How they flew them
« on: January 20, 2002, 11:13:20 PM »
I was reading thru the "Who really flew them" thread and was thinking.. How did they fly them?? Or maybe I was thinking more along the lines.. Do yall think we fly and fight in the same manner as they did?? Given flying with out a wingman and sqaud.. But the basic flying and fighting tactics employed. I think I did fly the P-38J in AW kinda like they did but not the same as they did.
I dunno its 11:30 I don't want to go to work tomorrow so i'm posting this. :)

Beware of lessons of a fighter pilot who would rather fly a slide rule than kick your ass!

The answer is no. My answer comes from the 2 Cons I attended. From thier speaches we couldnt match what they did. Tehy did things the planes werent ment to and did it to stay alive. Some of the others can post details if they want i dont remmeber all of their speaches. The one that stuck to me the most was the Bomber navigator (think thats what he was). He ditch 3 or 4 times in rough seas near Iwo Jima (B29s). He also said the7y couldnt hit a damn thing in Japan because they got caught in the jetstream nordan bomb site wasnt ment to hit things at 450 knots or so. Some one videoed thier speaches maybe they can fill in the blanks.
