Junta (Hockey Dad) Sentencing Today ...

Any guesses?  State guidelines say 3-5 years, but judge certainly does not have to follow.  From what I understand he could get as little as probation to as much as 20 years.  My guess is 3 years MAX.

You listen to Ripsnore's war story's of roundhouse kicking faces and you have to say this guy is just as desperate for being a badass General jaw breaker.

diddlyer needs to break rocks for 20 years, and then repay the family he has destroyed in a redneck rage. With his life? Hang the wannabe "tough guy"?

Geez,

Did either of you watch any of the trial or listen any of the testimony?  Or are you both just consumed by what the media fed you?

"99.9% sane people walk just walk away"

what Creamo said

This guy had the weight and strength on the skinny dead guy, he could have easily walked away.
With his girl cat fight scratch on his cheek, he could have walked away with a new car too..

then again maybe he is just a big teddy bear, cornered and had to fight for his life ...

Different scenario, Creamo. Had I killed that person, I'd have been off scot-free.  He was sitting on the chest of a bloody-faced woman beating her face in with two fists.

From what I hear he showed his wife "who's the boss" in the past in front of his kids as well. This time he killed somebody. He got 10 years and the Judge wasn't particularly impressed by his "victim" version of the truth, which was presented in a compelling manner by his attorney (I did see some of the trial). Still, it's a hard sell IMHO looikng at his size and that of the victim. I can't imagine being hotheaded enough to go after this guy without a baseball bat im my hands. I'm glad he's off the street.

The victim had something on his record too, but I don't know off hand what it was.

I don't believe it, I actually agree with Creamo and Eagler on this one.

This liberal's view on what his punishment should be: one bullet to the head. No tax dollars wasted.

No, I haven't been drinking. ;)

I watched the trial for a few hours, and hilight's of his testimony.

Sounded just like a big hardnosed redneck coached by a good lawyer to be Mr. NiceGuy while somehow justifying getting in a fight, which is barbaric and stupid, something like I said, 99.9% of us would never, EVER do. (Even in a very important child hockey game argument...)

See above. DRippy either kicked the guy off her which dispells the Bruce Lee impressive storyline , or could have called the Police like anyone else SHOULD HAVE.

Yet he see's the guy is lucky he didn't kill him, because he would get off "scott free." Not that it isn't hideous and stupid to kill someone for hitting his girlfriend, but because he thinks he is Mr. badass.

Weird if not criminal.

See?

Its not working Creamo, try harder.  And, I might add, you have forgotten the story, leaving out key pieces.

The judge hit him with 6-10, what the prosecution asked for.  The judge was upset with the prosecution because he believed Junta should receive more.  And he should.

From the judge’s statements, not the media, the man beat his wife in front of his kids, had restraining orders against him, and hit a police officer.  This incident wasn’t a one time action brought on by emotion.

The story was crap.  He left and decided to come back.  That action in it self should warrant manslaughter.  It wasn't involuntary at all.  He had every intention of hurting that guy when he returned.  I bet “I’ll show him” was going through his mind at the time.

I hope he does the 10.  If we’re all lucky he’ll screw up in prison and get something additional tacked on.

What Zipputah said.

The real losers are the kids and the two families of these two me. As well as those that had to witness this.  I'm personally satisfied that this man, who has no control over his temper nor shows any compuncture about seriously hurting people (smaller, weaker people at that and to the point of death in one case), is off the street.  It's his turn to be afraid, now that he'll be at the beck and call of Big Bubba the Rump Ranger.

it sucks that the little guy died but i believe he started the fight, didn't he.  why is it always the big guys responsability to walk away?
we couldn't the littler guy maybe be responsable enough not to go hitting a guy who could take his head off, hell maybe he shouldn't even be putting his hands on anybody.  he was an ass, hit another man, pushed him into a rage and died. sorry he's dead but i've dealt with enough of this type in my life not to have much pity for him, i feel real bad for his wife and kids though. when you hit somebody you should reasonably expect to be in a fight, and when adults fight sometimes people die. it's a chance you take when you push a fight to the point of physical violence, but once you you've pushed it to this level it's not reasonable to expect the other guy to back down and look out for you just because you are smaller,  why the hell should he look out for a guy who just hit him.

6-10 is fair. 3-5 would've been ok too.
