With all the negative posts happening on the forums these days I decided to post something positive that happened on the Knights team last night.

Myself and 4 others from my squad were defending some of the northern bases when the bishops put together a startling offensive. We defended well, but were finding it difficult to hold territory due to the large numbers put against us. It was frustrating when each of us were scoring multiple kill missions just to find out that there were more of them on the way as we were rearming for the next mission. I'd made several generic calls for assistance but we weren't getting much help, and we'd even lost our northern port.

Then I thought for a while and decided to ask the 479 Raiders to help us out, as they had the same fighting ethic that we had. We were old adversaries in AW for 3 or 4 years. We'd fought tooth and nail for as long as I remembered being in that game, and bad blood flowed like wine. It was a rivalry made in heaven, as their skill level was much the same as ours and fights always turned out interesting to say the least.

Well, back to my story. They showed up which surprised me to say the least given our past of bickering and cheap shots at one anothers squads. Our two squads (with the help of a few others) fought the Bish to a standstill even though they were using our just lost carrier to attack our last stand base. It was a furious fight, and after a while even more Knights joined in to help in the endeavour. We fought the Bish back to 2 bases deeper into their territory than where they'd started.

So I'd just like to say salute to the 479th Raiders for flying with us last night. It's nice to see two old adversaries forget their ill-will and work together.

Sorry if this sounds muddled, I'm just finishing work and want to get home. Just wanted to post this before I forgot.

I was interested in how we were all going to relate when I found out that our squads were on the same side.  It looks like things are going well and the only thing that really separated us in AW was the team we were fighting for.  Classy squads can always be expected to have classy behavior.  :)

I've always considered you a good foe and pilot and sometimes when I fought against your Spit, a real pain in the bellybutton :)  It's nice to be on the same side of things for a change.  We've also got a small debt of gratitude for the help you and the rest of 4 Wing had given us when we first jumped off the refugee boat.  So whenever you need a wingman or bait, just holler and I'm sure one of us Raiders will show up.

Yes, I was fighting in the 50/52 area around the same time. Seemed funny that 80% of the Knits were fighting the Rooks and screaming to protect the fields taken from the Rooks...while the Bish were overrunning the north.

Cudos to you and your mates

There was a few concerns voiced when we first came over to Aces High by members who remembered the bitter rivalry we had in Air Warrior. The 4 Wing was always a squad that we respected both for their fighting skills and their organized base-taking and defence.
Nonetheless, when we came over, Manx was one of the first ones to salute and welcome us, and he readily volunteered to show us the ropes and answer our questions. I personally asked Manx if I could ride with him to see how the game was fought and played. Manx did not hesitate in granting me the privilege of riding with him for a couple of hops, and then even took the time to ride with me to give me some pointers. That night was the turning point for me in understanding how to fly and fight in this arena, and while I still have a lot to learn, it made  all the difference in my transition.
So to you Manx and the 4 Wing, the 479th is damn glad to have you as teammates and new friends!:D

Hey Manx bud :) Hey it's just a game and even though we were once enemies in the arena that all changed upon crossing over to AH. We had to come to AH with open minds and part of that thinking was that we had on our side former adversaries. I remember my first day in here and how you came to my aid and showed me the ropes as far as controls, tips on gunnery, etc. Hell we even hooked up on RW to test it out. My friend Steve (Noamo), the wise one that he is, recently in an email said it best I think.."Adversarial relationships almost always promote better friendship, when the hatchet is finally buried."  This couldnt be more true than in this case. As a squad, the 479th goes back to '94 in AW on AOL and it has been a pleasure for me to say that I was one of the founding fathers and first elected CO of this fine group of guys. One credo that we have always clung to is loyalty, another is to give credit where credit is due. Loyalty to our squad and our country come first...and we will continue to be loyal to you and your squad as well...that is as long as long as you're flyin Knight. We know that we can depend on you as well in the same situation...that's what it's all about bud ;)
Cya up bud...

Hiya Manx,

Thanks for the kind words about us.  With so many of teh old AW people now being Knights, were gonna own the theatre soon :)

Good enemies make for better friends later on and thats where were at. I really admire the 4 wings tenacity. I see other guys giving up when things get tough, but not four wingers. I'll fly and fight along side you guys any day. What a night it would be if 4 wing, Raiders and SOG's combined for a night. :D
