Ummm....yes it was a fighter in certain variants....certainly NOT the one we have in AH. The Ju88G-7 was a very different aircraft from what we have. It was capable of 402mph at 30,000ft and was armed with 4x20mm firing forward and 2x20mm in shrage muzik. I'm not sure who exactly you're accusing of being an idiot, but alot of us are well aware of your groundbreaking discovery.

O.k. Otter... so go take your Ju-88 into a furball tonight and record a little film so you can show it to all of us in the morning.

The Ju88 we have IS actually quite a hndy plane in a fight....so long as you dont fly it like a bomber.
Get Nin to fly a target drone '88 for you some time, you'll see what i mean.

I've flown the AH 88 "as a fighter" a number of times once bombs are gone and done fairly well considering.

Dunno why everyone's gotta bash otter lol, he's got a valid point.

Risk something now and then...it can be Fun.

Does this mean the B17 is a fighter because it had a version that had 20 guns?

...and worth noting there was a reason why all the Ju88, 110 and 410 buff busters pilots were being converted to single engine fighters by late '44. US fighters were slaughtering them.

I read a quote, if memory serves from FW-190 at war, about just such a pilot who'd converted from Ju88's and 410's over to the Fw late in the war. His comment on flying the prior against the B17's and B24's was that they were like dueling with two very large trucks. As long as you didn't have to maneuver, you were fine.

That having been said though, I go blood pigging a lot lately in AH with the B26. Its a hoot 1vs1 against fighters, or even just jumping into furballs and seeing how many pelts you can get.

Here is some candy for this thread :D

JU88 in combat

I had been on patrol with two of my companions when a large gaggle of Ju 88s attacked the harbour. We chased them out to sea and on my third attack on one of them it blew up. While I was firing this burst I became aware of an almost unbeliveable occurence - one of the doomed crew's comrades tried to come to their aid by attacking me from behind, and in doing so showed extaordinary courage. I had not expected such audacity, and only first became aware of the attack when my aircraft jolted and I saw a large hole in the right wing. Also, damage was done to my aircraft's pilot system, depriving me of airspeed indication. I immediately turned to my assilant, and after a few tight turns I was in a good position to send him a long burst from my guns. I saw pieces break off the aircraft and it went into a dive, emitting black smoke.
Just at that moment I caught sight of another Ju 88 within good range, and turned towards it. The pilot of that bomber made very determined attempts to evade me, displaying great skill, but it was an uneven match and soon I had him in my sights and pressed the firing button. There were a couple of bangs and that was all - the guns were empty! There, by the grace of God, went one lucky German.

T.E. Jonsson, 111 sqn RAF
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

Nope.

... and no three-axis pilot adjustable trim tabs either.

...now that I think of it, no view keys....

...and no autopilot at all in almost all fighters, not even a wing leveler.

....and no gps navigation.......

... and

Oh, well... you get the idea... at least I think you probably do.  ;)
