I thought it also stood for "did not".

Maverick - I'm sure it could be used in an expression such as "I dinnae ken what the fuss is, laddie"    Which would make it mean something along the lines of "I do not understand..."

(I used to have an accent till the bloody "make everyone the same" school system sent me to a speak therapist - I've not been right since  )
