After 2 or 3 hours playing the new version, I can only say that I hate MGs (unless it is in my hands, of course :D)

Is it any more realistic or can you still run around at 30mph?

All the sites I went to are busy or yanked it due to high volume. Popular file? :)

You still run faster than in MOH, it seems, but it is much, much better.

You know they are on the right track when all the l337 d00dz are pissed off. :)

There is a 'sprint' key that will make you really fast for about 20 feet, and will eat up your stamina very quickly, so you can't do it all the time.

The gunsights are new (kind of like OPF), so you can't hit a thing if you are running, and the recoil makes sprayin' and prayin' completely impractical.

You can shoot the MGs while standing or crouched, but dont count on hitting anything at all... to really be useful with an MG, you have to lie down and deploy the bipod, which disallows moving, and slows down your aiming, but is deadly accurate.  (the MG42 will even overheat!)  You can also deploy the bipod by resting it on certain pre-determined positions while standing.

Some objectives now require more than one person to capture, and they have to hold that position for a couple seconds to actually capture that flag - which makes it more interesting.

Overall, it is a huge step in the right direction - really fun!

Much better than the old version. Slowing everyone down has helped alot. My only real complaint is the US grenades seem to contain tactical nuclear warheads.

Yeah, when I was playing as an ally, I wounded myself with just about every grenade i threw... as axis, those things were killing people who were on different servers. ;)

It rules.

I love that map with the bridge -  the high buildings on either side are perfect for MG duals.

Overall I think the gameplay is the best out of all FPS games. DoD was always better than counterstrike, but now just blows it away.

I just wish it had the graphics and sound effects of MOHAA - but I'm glad there are no bazookas or shotguns in there. :)
War! Never been so much fun. War! Never been so much fun! Go to your brother, Kill him with your gun, Leave him lying in his uniform, Dying in the sun.

So, what do I need to play DoD2? I have the original game "Half-Life", is that all I need besides the DoD2 mod?

Yep, that's all ya need. Probably have to install Gamespy Arcade to find some servers. You'll also need whatever patches to update your HL to the current version.

Gamespy?

I prefer the "All Seeing Eye" much more. It has no ads, runs much smoother and is more flexible for the user.

And your HL needs to be up to date... so get downloadin'.

I like the look of All Seeing Eye so far, though I had a hard time finding good MOH servers with it.

 Thats for sure.

Should've heard all the whining in the server I was in yesterday.
The MG's are monsters when properly deployed and really rip an assault to pieces. The Carbines kick bellybutton too, and is possibly the best allied wep now.

I do think the garand needs work, and its rate of fire should be increased.
