Cobra you see the new cloud layers fine? No ghuge gray rectangles or any other graphics anomolies?

I'm asking because I'm under the (self-induced) impression that the new clouds have a major problem with them. See the bug forumn for some posts. Huge gray rectangles, demarcation between day and overcast geography is extreme and I suspect the new cloud grpahics as being the source for invisible ships in the fleets when the clouds are even barely close by - even if out of visible range.

Flying under the environment there clouds bring is awsome. As long as I don't look at where the ovecast area ends or like using my 5,7,11,or 1 views when in the same grid they are in.

I'm trying to figure out if I have an obsolete system now and need a new gfx's cards or if I'm not in a minority that has gfx problems around these layers.

The dark of the nighttime nor the dark under the overcast are not a problem. But I wonder what those guys have for sys specs especially graphics cards.

Westy,
I get the big grey WalMart Wall like everyone else.  So I do get those anamolies.  Although I haven't seen the cloud front around a fleet yet.

I was referring to once you get into the layer a little bit.

Last night, 44 and 37 were both covered deep in the layer.  We launched from 44 to 37.  It was just a blast.

But, I agree, the edges of the front need some work.

Well... I can't see anything in either the night of the Monsoon's from hell (under cloudbanks).

And if I have an "obsolete system" then more than half or more of the AH population will be upgrading or quitting.

Athlon 800mhz
196 meg RAM
GeForce 256

And a decent system with everything else. No its not top of the line, but its quite a bit more than the "minimum system specs" and is certainly not obsolete.

Cheers!

"I've looked at clouds from both sides now, from up and down and still somehow  it's lifes illusions I recall, I really don't know cloooooooooouds aaaaaat aaaaaaaaaaaallllll.

--Judy Collins from her album "Von Ribbentrop sings Burt Bacharach"

I like 'em.  They add a new dimension.  I'm sure HT will refine the wall of voodoo to be more realistic.

lol vvermi;llion if you consider that obsolete you funny

i think with a geforce mx and a p3 500 you can run aces high quite well so you sytem is a bit above that

ps mine is very similar to yours and i get 6070 fps, and i hate the guys with p2-266s who squeak about fps. get a job and get a new system, hell im a poor college student and i can afford a midrange system  of course i have no kids to support
