Hello all, I'm a new guy around here, just started one of those freebee two week trials. I was wondering if there was a place, where I could find out how this game is played, kind of like a clearing house of information? I'm a 3-4yr veteran of WarBirds and looking for something else.

Any help would be much appreciated. I'm mostly interested in a more historical arena such as WB's HA. Is that what the CT is? Is there an explaination of how to read the map somewhere? I'm referring to all the symbology, as well as grid references.

I flew online for the first time yesterday, and must say it was quite enjoyable. I think I'm going to like it around here.

Oh, one last question. Are the carriers available in the Main arena? If so, how do I find them? I looked for them yesterday, and didn't see anything that looked like it might have been a CV. Is there a directory of AH squads some place?

The cv's are very fragile and vulnerable to suicide bomb runs.  They are never up very long if they are close enough to the action to be worth taking off from.

Let's see. Clearing house of information would be to read the manual for starters. I believe you can D/L it in PDF format from the HTC site. The historical arena is the CT, as well as TOD. I would highly recommend you sign up for Tour of Duty. This is held in the Special Events Arena, on Friday at 10pm. Come early to Download the terrain, and get signed onto a squad. There are carriers in the MA. They are the fields on the map that start with the letter C, such as C37, etc. They're not always at sea, as they are often sunk, and need to respawn. AS far as map symbology. if you pull up your clipboard in game, and use the pull down menu at the top, you will get maps for Large, Medium, Small fields, and a legend as to how to read field maps. For the overall map, there is a button on the top right of the clipboard which will bring up a legend of Main Map Symbols. I think the button says "Legend" on it...not too sure.

As for squads, there is a directory of some squads under Commuity, on the main HT homepage.

Welcome, Razzor!

Hope to see you up in the CT real soon.

One thing about the clipboard map- it gets really crowded at the default scale.  You can change the scale of the map with the insert and delete keys.   Zooming in makes field names easier to read.   (And zooming in is NOT the same as making the clipboard larger with the + button on the clipboard itself).

I highly recommend reading the manual, and asking questions here rather than online (esp the MA).   Alot of the MA guys don't have very much patience with new guys asking questions.   Its a little better in the CT because of the smaller numbers- if you see me up, contact me on private and I'll help you out.

Razzor, what took you so long :)

I was Yeager in WBs, remember me :P

If Im online and you need anything just gimme a hollar.
I still enjoy being shot down :)

Yes lazs the CVs are weak to the point of being infantile.  Was it you or whels who suggested giving the CV and other boats accumulative damage.  That has always seemed like a good suggestion to me.  Unfortunately it hasnt happened....yet

Would be nice to damage the CV to the point where it stopped.

Cyas,
Yeager
