Yak-9T  , one shot one kill with that  37mm.. Its fun to try and see how high of a kill streak I can get with the limited ammo. Its also a challenge to get close enough to kill with that gun.

SpitV: Very fun for furballing, eats n1ks  that try to turn with you.

Typhoon: I love bursting in and out of furballs with speed in this thing- 4 hispanos make a mess of anything.

Mossie-  My fave bnz aircraft.  The 4 nose mounted hispanos do an awful lot of damage with quick snap shots.  Handles well up to 400mph so you can manouver for the kill in the last second of the dive and spray with those hispanos.:D

Karnak you sure about the mossie durability?  I usually take loads of damage and usually manage to limp home with leaks, dead engines, missing parts and all sorts.

Bf 109G series.  Same explanation as Kweassa.

P51B.  Same explanation as SOB.

F4U-1C/D.  chog = eskimo's explanation.  dhog because I love the satisfaction of seeing .50's raining continuously on your foe :D.

P-47

1. Its beautifully menacing.

2. This is the AC that the USAAF met a very lethal and dominating Luftwaffe with.  Consider that 98% of the US pilots had never sen combat and then, welcome to the ETO. Gerry is shooting at you. 1943,  was a very hard year for the US.

3.  The 56th FG.  This group produced many aces in the "jug". Names like Bob Johnson, Gabby Gabreski, Jerry Johnson, Hub Zemke, Dave Schilling......

P51B - Same reasons as SOB, even though I don't fly them much anymore the P51's have always been one of my favorites, they don't call it the cadillac of the skies for nothing.

F6F-5  Because it's tough as hell and lets me wade into the fight in ways you could never get away with in the p51, you can just be really aggresive in it and make a couple mistakes and still make it home.  Dogfighting in this plane is just fun.

P38, frequently underestimated, does most things well, and always gauranteed a fight 'cause it's such a bit target!

I like them all.  I dont think I have ever seen an airplane I didnt like.  In the MA I tend to go on streaks where I fly a certain airplane almost exclusively for awhile.  Then after a week or two, I switch to something else.  Of course there are the standbys that I switch to when I need to accomplish a certain task.  Then there are my all time favorites, the ones that I just keep going back to.

F-4U:  When I was a kid, the Corsair was my favorite plane period.  It looks cool, had an awesome kill ratio, and was feared by the Japanese (also by its student pilots).  If I was as rich as Bill Gates, I would own a real Corsair instead of a business jet. (actaully if I was that rich, I would own a Corsair AND a jet)  In AH, I use the D for ground attack, but for some reason I like flying the -1 a lot too.

P-47: The Jug is in close contention with the Hog for my favorite WW2 plane.  In real life the Corsair and T-Bolt possess many of the attributes that I would want in a fighter: exceptionally durable, reliable, roomy and comfortable, and fast.
In AH the P-47 is the very best for attack missions, carrying a ordnance load that rivals some bombers.  It is then capable of defending itself once the bombs/rockets are gone.  I set my personal 1 mission kill record in a P-47d-30.  (10 kills + numerous acks and town building destroyed.)  I have had streaks better than this against pt boats or ground vehicles, but against actual fighters this was the best.

C.205:  From the first time I ever saw a C.202 in the Smithsonean Air and Space Museum I have thought that it was one of the most beautiful fighters ever.  The stories of Allied pilots that flew captured examples confirm that it was an extremely sweet flying aircraft.  If the Mustang is the Cadillac of the skies the Macchi is the Ferrarri.  When I read about the C.205 with its superior armament and speed, I liked it even better than the 202.  In AH this is undoubtedly the most underrated fighter.  It isnt the best at any one thing, but it does almost everything well in air-air combat.  Not only that, but you get really good perks for using it.

C-47:  This is my oddball pick.  Historically speaking, I believe that the C-47/DC-3 would make anybodys list of top 10 greatest aircraft of all time.  In air combat its mostly a target, and gets little respect from a fighter that sees one, yet it does something that no other plane in here can do, it captures airfields.  Flown correctly, you can on rare occasions embarass an enemy fighter in one as well.  I started practicing dogfighting in a goon after one successfully evaded me for several minutes when I first began playing AH.  You can really frustrate a fighter pilot in one sometimes, using the slow speed and tight turning circle to advantage.  I have 7 manoever kills in the goon to prove it, and Im here to tell you that there is nothing quite like the feeling of taking a goon to an enemy base, dropping troops, then getting jumped by 2 enemy fighters on the way home, and having both of them auger while trying to get a shot on you.

Other favorites:
FW-190 d9 (probably the best air-air fighter for me although I didnt like it the first few times I tried it)
Bf-109 G10 (climbs like a homesick angel)
B-26 (best bomber in my opinion)
Mosquito (great for ground attack)
Typhoon (my choice for dealing with gvs)
Tempest (my favorite way to lose perk points)
Hurricane (defending vulched fields, and shooting gvs)
Ju-88 (town flattener par excellence)
Me-262 (its nice to be invincible sometimes, just stay away from  ack and bomber gunners and refuse all HOs)
La-5 (underrated but a nice ride)
P-51 (who doesnt like the Mustang)

I'll stop here because this post is getting too long, I will just say that I like them all, but the 4 that I listed above I love the best.

In MA - Yak 9U.  If it wasnt for the low ammo load and the low lethality Id claim it was the best plane in the game.  Fast, manuverable, and able to "out fly" just about anything.  I will admit - the P-47D30 is growing on me...

In CT - 109F4.  The Axis/Allied planeset is awesome and the ability of the 109's to play their strengths is readily available in this enviroment.

Do you need to ask? :)

190 Of course, why? Because the Power of the Wurger will allways remain superior!

Quote
For yay did the sky darken, and split open and spew forth fire, and through the smoke rode the Four Wurgers of the Apocalypse. And on their canopies was tattooed the number of the Beast, and the number was 190.

And lo were the Spit-dweebs swept from the sky, and raineth British aircraft parts onto the Euro terrain for forty days and forty nights, and long could the vile scream of BMW engines be heard over the still flat and lifeless scenario terrain.

P38 take one look at it and you will understand :)
Damn good E fighter. toejamy dive tho.

F4U-1C-D gotta love those gull wings and that big bellybutton wasp radial motor :)
Damn good roll rate and good initial turning. Bad climb rate.

Cw

PS the P-38 should be called the Cadilliac of skies. P-51 flies like toejam compared to it. And proably the best handling fighter when hanging on the props for dear life at 30mph :)
