I grew up in Brasil (spells with an "s") and it is really nice to see them get a plane painted representing a fine combat outfit. I am a 47 dweeb anyway and it will be grand to be able to fly a version that has some personal history involved in it. No, I never flew in WWII, but the association to a country I called home for 16 years is more than enough for me.

Now, if I can get my two youngest brothers that were born down there to fly AH...:-)

oh, yes, we are :-)

In fact, there is little time I had the pleasure to know a P47 closely... There is one in an aeronautical museum in Rio de Janeiro, recuperated and in flight conditions. It is I could really see as that airplane it is big!

There is another that is maintained in a square in Curitiba city...

In my city (Juiz de Fora) there was an aerial demonstration and they were exposing a motor Wright Cyclone R2800... Boys, the cylinders seem pots!

Yes, pops, I do love this and I'll feel really honoured to have the oportunity to fly this bird :,-)

Thank you, pyro! I think it's a great step to make Aces High look even more international and I'm sure that brazilian community in wwii sims  - which is one of the largest outside USA - will recognize it ;-)

its great if only for the fact that it will make more people aware that brazil was involved in the european theatre.
I have always read about british and american and german involvement and had never known about the brazilian squadron.

Well,

I'm realy glad to see all those brazilians in here... WE have at least 4 Jugs in Brazil. 2 in the Brazilian Air & Space Museum (Museu Aeroespacial), in Rio, 1 in a fighter base in Santa Cruz, pretty close to Rio and the other in a monument in Curitiba.

One of those in the MUSAL is in flying condition and I got inside it already... I can say I pressed a real WEP button!

  Thank you al!! SALUTE!!!

There is a good write up on this squad in the Wings of Fame Volume #16.  Has some great pictures and info on the guys, pretty good stuff.  Even a picture of the plane pyro has modelled.  The one in the book has the squad badge and what looks like mission symbols along the side, like the photo Dune posted.

Dunno if its been posted yet:
One of the original aircraft handed over on 28October44 and flown by Rui Moreira Lima, who flew 94 combat missions with the 1st BFG.

Cognac you are sure it was not the fumes of your drink causing the tears?  *hic*

Zemke, I REALY don't think that you should say that. It's probably one of the most non-sence thing I've ever heard. I'm Proud to say that I'm one that will fly that "south-american" marked P-47. 'Cos I'm from that "south-american" country, and above all, because I know something (that you probably don't), That's called HISTORY. And if you want to take those books from under your bed and read them a little, you will see that, the "south-american" country fought the same war, at the same side of yours. And bleeded as much blood as yours. As RED as "your", so I ask you to PLEASE, THINK before talk or write those silly things.

Sorry all for that but I couldn't just read and let go! And sorry for my bad english too!! :-)

BTW, That Thunderbolt is wonderfull!!

OR maybe YOU should leave?
Players whith no respect from others from another places, shouldn't have to play an open game. Just those done for you and others like you, that think you're in the top of the human race. Don't you think?
