Question on C205

Go looking for the carrier groups. I think the 205 is nasty against every one of the carrier based aircraft. Of course, you're going to have to fly it really smart against the F4U.

People who try to fly it like a Spit V contribute to its poor stats.  Use it mostly for BnZ, and be choosy about who you turnfight against.

The C.205 is one of my favorites for airfield defense. Assuming you can survive taking off (about 1/2 the time I don't), the 205's good acceleration and handling, along with potent guns, can make life hard for the attackers. Just avoid turnfighting with the usual types (Spits, Hurris and Zekes) and you will do very well. My only gripe is horribly overmodeled canopy rails. This has caused me to get killed by aircraft hidden from my view, at least twice (grumble). It's a good ride, but far from my favorite for all-around use in the MA. That belongs to the Spits and/or Ki-61.

I find the 205 to be almost as good as the spit IX for most fights.
for me, it holds a little advantage since I can't hit a boing 747 from 200 yards, so the ammo load does compensate for that.

Probably THE most underrated plane in the set.  Easy to fly, need trim setup on hotas though, trim requires alot of attention.  Gotta have an easy, steady hand on the stick too, nose bounce is probably the most pronounced in this plane, although I dont know why, properly set trim neutralizes much of it though.  People who are stuck in the nik/spit syndrome really should consider moving up to the 205, it would probably improve their skillset some and still provide plenty of kills and fun.

>>I'm surprised I don't see more of them. You're on to something good there, Ouch.  <<

I think you are creating a monster. I have noticed since the recent posts on the Yak that more of them are being flown now.
I won't be surprised to see a lot more being flown now, either for the upcoming scenario or, simply because it is viewed as an Uber plane. For the former, it is a good idea to fly it for the familiarization, for the latter, tsk, tsk. It is a lot harder to fly that it seems. I would advise some practice to get to know it's quirks.

Not so sure about the "Experts" plane moniker.

Flown with any regularity, and with caution,  holding off shot's till 200, its devestating. (Till a "expert" in his La7 finds you.)

Fly em in pairs or 3 if that's possible. Thunder can attest to that, but that was MANY versions ago.

I assume it still is deadly. Loads of ammo, yet limited view, and LA7's of late versions make em a ghost.

205 is easily the best plane to learn in...you can kill anything including an la-7 in one. Obviously pilot skill will play an issue in any fight but the 205 is a very capable platform. Once you learn to fly the 205 reasonably well you can be competative in any plane in the set....just my 2 cents
