Hi AV8 - there are several UK-based Squadrons, and I am Adjutant/XO of the Krait Squadron.  You may wish to join our UK mailing list first which will put you in touch with other UK-based pilots.  If you wish to join the mailing list, email spiffy@kraits.org, who will get you added - for more information see http://www.airwar.org.uk/welcome.html.  Once on the list you will then be in a better position to contact any other squads if you wish.  :)

Hi AV8;)

Modem 56 is used by the moust of the player in her I think;)

To gett the best out off your line is to just cut out all others aplication you have on etc. ICQ MSN or others that is using your line, if you also use RW it also take some off your line but is marginal.

To work in team and dont use RW is not fun;)

What is your FFP in the game?

See also her on optimizing your connection on your modem:

Hi GA

Thanks for replying..

My Modem is fairly new, so I think the drivers are fairly up to date.

Cutting out all extraneous applications is no problem:  Nothing loads on my computer (except NortonAV) unless I want it to.  I have 256K of RAM and I want it all  ;)

I have used RW in all the games I have played.  As you said: "Its no fun not being able to talk to team mates".

Do you prefer RW to AH`s own???

What is my FFP??  I don`t understand the question

Anyway, thanks for replying, it really is appreciated :D

Regards

Your modem drivers aren't an issue but your settings will affect gameplay. By default your modem is optimized for large downloads. You need to change some settings to optimize it for online gaming. Setting your transmit/receive buffers on the low side, turning off compression, and forcing your modem to connect at 36k will usually improve the online game performance.

Thanks FLS,

I know about compression being off.  I will try lower Buffers and an even lower modem speed.... 36K seems awfully low??

56K isn't faster than 36K. It's like comparing a bus to a car. They both travel at the same speed but the bus gets 40 people to the same destination 'faster' than the car. In the case of heavy traffic, the car may get to the destination sooner than the bus because it can use smaller spaces than the bus. Like the car, a smaller simpler packet may travel the net with less difficulty. AH only requires a car load of data, not a bus load. It's likely that 14k is sufficient for AH.
