Seeker and Otter I added your names to my post as regards to your comment about low blow and Otters suppositions that I've lost my humour, become paranoid and that I'm seeing conspiracys. BTW, Otter. How is it you found out about this specific topic anyway?

Arlo, comparing my posts with Avenger and KBear is way out of line and uncalled for. It's definately made me do a 180 in my opinion of you in that I'm positive you're a wee bit "odd." As for Google? It's the way to link a public post without asking people to load up BW via newsgroup, wade thru all the sh&t and see for themselves what the same folks who had been "trolling" in here had to say elsewhere. Nothing more and nothing less.

Rotor, this is out of hand now not because of you. It's out of hand because of Arlo. I'm not on any high horse, cashing in on any grudges nor anything else. If you're so inclinee go back and look at the original posts. My post that Arlo refers to as inane and KBear/Avenger like was written after I did just that. The skewed perspective is not mine that's for sure. My error (and Lazs imo) was in continuing to discuss this bull with Arlo (and now you, and now Otter)instead of ignoring him. I persisted in trying to drive home the point I was making. Where as some (Vermillion for example) said his peace and was done.

I dont know, but I dont see anything out of hand.  So Arlo and Lasz are going at it, BFD.  Geezus H. Khreist on a krutch.  You were the one who mentioned "conspiracy".  Verm took personal offense to what I had posted, so I apologized to him.  Nothing more nothing less.  Like I said, a LOT of AHers hang out at BW now.  Go figger ah?  Some of the AHers that hang out over there have been involved with HTC longer than you.  Sorry pal you went off on the wrong tangent, and what you did WAS not like the Westy I knew.  I am done.

"Sorry pal you went off on the wrong tangent"

No Rotor. Wrong. Read my first post in this topic. Then my second which was a reply to Arlo. Then go read my further explanation in the 'UBB Suxxors' topic and if you have to reread the whole discourse in this topic. IMO you and Arlo are way off base.

Way off base about what? NNTP vs UBB? What Rotor's sig meant? How some took offense over the sig when they didn't know what it meant?

 You, otoh, start off with:

"Someone make the bridge. I would but it's not my place as a non participant in BW anymore to offer up the nnttp addy."

Then end up going into a frantic Googlesearch for posts you can take out of context and post here to prove that Rotor and Arlo planned to come over here and toejam in your running buddies Wheaties just to piss off the community as a whole. And to top it off, you make damned sure to show where the "backdoor" to BigWeek is.

Do you really believe this is some sort of attempt to "bridge the gap"?

 *ShruG* I bet you do.

You're right about one thing, though. It's way past the point where we needed to ignore each other. Better late than never, though.

Moose! very good post earlier.  a lot of us came here from AW almost two years ago.  We enjoyed the game and stayed because in our opininon neither AW or WB came close in any aspect from modeling, graphics, and playability.

To you new arrivals from AW <S>!  Glad to have you, being an old AW'er from wayyyyyyy back.  But remember this.  This ain't Kansas Dorothy!  Ya can't click your heels and say "there's no place like home, there's no place like home" and be back in Kansas.

steeper learning curve.....and after flying all 3 sims at one time or another, by in large the most talented community of virtual fliers I've experienced.  also the most knowledgeable about every aspect of the game and real life aircraft of the WW2 era.

Also........many many great people here to help you fly........and get shot down   :D

It's a growing Community of generally helpful and fun people to compete with.

Again welcome and <S>!  But remember.....this ain't Kansas  :p

<hands Westy a clue stick> I am here because I am an inveterate reader of BB's and the topic struck my fancy so I read it and the replies and added my 2 cents worth.

If you notice the only participation I have had in the original Rotor thread was to point out how humourless some of you have become and then left it at that.

You're still implying (and hung up) on the actions some AW'ers who happened to be BW'ers took by posting a pretty damn funny tongue in cheek message into a troll party conspiracy aided and abetted by a cast of thousands and it ain't so.

As a matter of fact I haven't even visited that thread since I posted and didn't read any of Rotor's other posts so frankly I don't care what transpired between any of you guys.

The fact remains if Rotor don't like UBB and Pimpjoe does then fine, go ahead and say it, just don't turn it into this stupid us vs them toejam.

And if any of you morons make another "this aint Kansas anymore Dorothy" comment I will sing show tunes.

And don't think I won't.

What I was trying to say was that the issue about the ubb is but a microcosm of how some folks have entered this community.

What I can't understand is that people can dish out nasty insults and complaints but balk at the sight of an insightful, thought out post. I'm not blowin my own horn here either - time and time again the people who actually analyze a situation and try to explain as best as one could get ignored and flamed.

At this point, it's time to quote Hangtime:

"Engage the enemy, not the keyboard"

Moose,

As insightful as your post was ... and yes there was some insight there ... it was actually off topic (or sure seemed that way to me).

"i've noticed a lot of the new AWers commin in and putting "UBB SUCKS PURPLE MONKEY BALLS" or "UBB SUCKS ARSE" and things like that. my question is...if it sucks that bad...why read and post?"

Then again, the author (Pimpjoe) does seem confused as to the intent of Rotor's sig.

I put my best foot forth to explain that Rotor was merely commenting that NNTP was, in his opinion (and shared by many), a better way to do things. Then Urchin stepped in and asked a legitimate question and Seeker and I expounded on the technical merits of NNTP.

Even after Gunhog stumbled in without bothering to go past the initial post and decided to hoorah Pimpjoe, things kind of stabilized and got back to a rather pleasant discussion over the technical subject.

 Then your post of insight.

Followed by polite applause by Westy and then taken as an opprotunity for a jab from Mako which made little sense.

 Ok, fine.

I'd been trying to show Westy that he was being pretty one-sided in his point of view and took an opprotunity myself to merely point at the direction the thread was taking and who was taking it there but he was too blinded by his desire to chastise and lecture me.

I took it badly and things went pretty much south from there.

Westy's determination to use Goggle to find BigWeek posts to prove his assumptions of some sort of complicity between Rotor, myself and others based on a mysterious email he claimed to have recieved(especially after having said earlier that it would be rude of him to post the nntp addy since he no longer was a participant of that ng - his own decision) was at BEST, very poor form and certainly didn't help things.

That seems to be the entire thread in a nutshell (plus some inferences to other threads within).

So don't take offense at my not wanting to congratulate you for a job well done. Everything has it's place ... and time even. And although it probably would have happened anyway, given the influences that Westy now falls under (and I for that matter), this thread looks as if it's been a significant factor on putting the deathnail in an online friendship that I had cherished for years. I'm still torn over whether it's for the best or not (I've never seen this side of Westy). If I come to the conclusion that it was for the best, THEN I'll thank you.

"he was too blinded by his desire to chastise and lecture me."

I got as far as here Arlo.  That wasn't it at all. I think you're plain unable to comprehend the simple message I was trying to get across. At this point I don't care if you  "hear" what I was saying ot not.

Immel I don't understand your reasoning behind your comment at all.

Yes. That's probably the saddest part.
