HAahah what a loser
« on: March 13, 2002, 05:29:33 PM »
It all boils down to writing your own code vs modifying someone else's.  AKDJV
**************************
Did that, it's called WarBirds III.  Littman
***************************************************

What a bozo.

HS already admitted they're still using important sections of HT's code that they themselves couldn't improve on!

Yet this banana has the gall to suggest WBIII was written from scratch.

I just realized who these guys are.

Code-Coons!!!! LoL!

Back in school there we people we called "Code-Coons".  Late at night, the day before a project was due, you could walk into the computer lab and shine a flashlight on them.  They'd be rootin around in the trash bins like racoons looking for other peoples tossed printouts to "leverage" their code rather than start from scratch.

So here is Littman, blank expression, staring into the glare of the flashlight.  And he has the gall to say:   "What?  Its all my code.  I dug it out of the trash can all by myself!"

LoL,
Wab

I have been thinking about this all day.  I really don't understand why they have such a loyal community.  I know our communities tend to be a bit neurotic, but I really don't understand this.   I still remember all the stuff they used to tell us trainers that turned out to be about 80% outright lies.  They told the same stories to the community and expected us to back them up, then HS stabbed us in the back over the mushbirds "feature"  (the reason I quit). but then that's my personal experience, not most of the WB communities.  But the crap IEN has pulled over the last 3 years is mind bending.  Then with Wild Bill back in the saddle I really don't understand how all the old vets could stand that, after what he did the first time.  He not only almost killed WB he did damage to the whole freakin industry with imagic f22 raptor or what ever it was.

Personaly I found Jay Littman to be a very nice person.  I talked to him several times on the phone when I was going for the community manager job (it was between me and Iceman when I changed my mind about moving from Texas).  Then I found out about the lies, and to be fair that was more HS than Jay.   I could see how the community just likes him and is willing to give him a chance.  But that has been a 3 year chance almost now and not much has changed.  WB3 is out, but what I saw didn't impress me much at all.  It looked nice, but not as nice as what I've seen some people say.  The terrain color I liked more than AH, but AH gives me a much better feel down low on the deck.  Then there was all the stuff that I remembered from CK/WB.  Overall I was left with the fealing that it was the same school book from last year, but with a new book cover.  The user interface to select planes was virtualy identical to what it was when I quit.  All the dot commands were the same.  Everything.   Then there was the fact that after 2 years it still had less planes than WB and was very early beta material.

I haven't played it since then so I don't know what it's like now.  I don't need to play it.  I can look at where WB was when I quit and what AH alpha .24 was like in august of 99.  Then I look at where AH is now and WB 2.77 is still online w/ WB 3 in beta though I thought they were already charging for it.  It's such a simple thing for me to see that HT and crew are much better at this game than IEN.  I guess my problem is that it's so clear to me that I don't understand how others (ie..everybody) can't see it too. To each his own I guess.  The one plus about HT going into competition with himself  is the new price we pay for the hi-fi version of our little addiction. :)

Thanks again HT!

To be honest the reason why I haven't seen the "light" and come over here to AH. Is because of posts like these, I just wrote the BK's a couple days ago that I was dropping WB and coming full time to AH (BK's my old squad from WB).

Then I read a post like this basically calling "me" stupid for staying there and I am strongly considering not making the move. I am the first to admit I am not thick skinned, and don't take kindly to insults, but that's just me.

Granted I am still coming over, but there will always be a soft spot with WB (first online gaming experience for me, 4 years of fun, lot's of friends) very difficult to leave. Although I am keeping the minimum account just in case something interesting comes up.

I am not pointing Udie out in particular, but you have to admit there has been much worse stuff from other people. I admit that AGW is no better prolly even worse in some respects.

And as I said midnight Target I am fairly thin skinned on such things. I like AH alot, it definately has a ton to offer (Customer Service is definately much better IMO, jury is still out on the perk points, and the F4U is a dream here).

Very difficult to break ties with my friends over there, but I digress. CYA in the skies.

narsus, welcome.

I went through similar issues when my sim died. I have made myself at home here and enjoy it immensely.

I hope you didn't think I was calling any of the players stupid, because I wasn't.  I just don't understand, but that's my problem :)  WB will always have a soft spot in my heart too, it is after all what got me started in this hobby 6 long years ago.  I guess I have a softer spot for HT and crew saying they created WB as well as AH.

anyhooo welcome to AH :)

Udie,... I can understand why people stay at a place, even if they may be mistreated.

I read both the AGW and HTC boards.  I never played WB so I cannot comment on the situation over there and I have never made a post over there either.

But I can understand why people stay where they stay.  I akin it to raising a child.  As a paying client for the services you are a parent.  You watch the child grow, you nurture it and all the while hoping you are hoping a good job as a parent.
One day your child may go astray, but as a parent, you are obliged to do what you can to get the child back on track.  You always hope you can help that child out and try to make them see the good path.

There is a lot of passion in the 2 communities as I read it.  I really see both sides trying to make thier child the best it can be, and always knowing a part of that is not in thier control.  Thus some anger and frustration gets displayed on both sides about this.

Any parent worth his/her weight will always defend his/her child,  regardless of the situation.  That's my take on the subject.

Welcome aboard narsus.  Glad to have you here to nurture our child.

Yes! the fight does get very venomous, which is what I really don't understand.  I know I've thrown my fair share of venom around but usually directed at IEN.   We should be 1 big happy community :rolleye:  that's a nice though but I know it will never happen with the likes of Tahgut in our sim, damned pinko commie!! :D
