Rooks and our inability
« on: March 18, 2002, 12:21:00 AM »
This evening has disgusted me like no other time on AH.  Rooks were up 5 bases and pushing for reset on Bish.  Then the bishnit alliance begins to form.  180 something rooks online to bish 100 and nit 120 and we cant even get a diddlying reset.  CMON rooks get it together, our inability to work together as a country amazes me.  We have our heads up our own diddlying tulips and the Bishnits are pushing. DISGUSTING

There are a couple things you can do.

-Lead by example: When you have a number advantage, go offensive
Learn how to use the mission maker, and make some missions that folks will join (ie, don't make the mission an hour long thing)  The battles flow fast so make a fast-paced mission.  Your mission building skills and the success there within will inspire others to do the same, I can remember a time in Knitland where I was the only one making missions, now we have a flock of excellent mission makers, 24/7.

-When you are low on numbers, go defensive, with small offensive missions
Continue making missions for smaller numbers so you don't strip your fields of needed manpower for defense.  Make some missions that will draw the heat of your front lines, allowing those on defensive to get the upper hand and not lose their fields.

I could go on and on with this subject, but thats a good start for you. Never depend on others to 'do the action', you must do it, and promote it, and then lead them.

stat2000 welcome to AH!

This is nothing new nor is it just a Rook thing.

I've been flying here since day 1 and it all depends on when you fly and who is flying. Some times you win with fewer numbers and sometimes you lose when you have the most but one thing is for sure the more you squeak about it the less support you get.

Best thing to do is to fly the way YOU need to fly and not worry so much what the next guy is doing. If you need help ask for it but don't be suprised if none comes.

Most people have their own agenda and unfortunatly it doesn't always include saving bases.
I have been reborn a new man!

Notice I never said a better man.

Just the other night, we saw a perfect example of why this is absolutely necessary if you are short on manpower. We Rooks had typically 1/3 less people than the Knits and Bish. So, what did the mission planners do? They set up a big mission to target of limited value, stripping away more than 30% of available manpower. For what? They didn't capture the targeted field, and we lost three fields due to a lack of defenders, and all of these were high value fields too. That simpleton concept which states; "the best defense is a good offense", is a pipe dream. When badly outnumbered, offensive strikes should be limited to realistic goals. Such as knocking out airfield fuel supplies and bombing hangers. Pre-emptive missions and interdiction should be the rule until the manpower is available for concerted strikes to roll back the enemy. Husbanding resources is essential to extend the fight long enough to eventually gain an advantage. There's no shame in "holding the line", and no glory in ill advised attacks that greatly undermine the ability to hold what little you have.
