Why are the engine temp gages on Ki67 simple art and not working gages?

Inquireing minds want to know?

because it doesn't have coolant, so it would make them a useless guage.

I have a question...

What does Engine Temp Gauge mean in Aces High?

Ki-67 had the following temp gauges:

1) Cylinder Head Temperature Gauge.
2) Oil Temperature Gauge.
3) Carburetor Air Temperature Gauge.
4) Exhaust Temperature Gauge.
5) Outside Air Temperature Gauge.

Isn't one of these the Engine Temp Gauge?

OK...I've read my Ki-67 book again.
My book says Ki-67 had cooler and forced cooling fans.
ain't they coolant? sorry, I can't understand English well.

Erhh..No radial engines had coolant. Engine temp should be either cylinder head or oil temp.

I've seen what oil and pistons from air-cooled Deutz looks after engine was running "little hot". Pistons looked quite bad 'cause of detonation and cyl.head gaskets made of copper lost their shape 'cause of heat. Oil looked more like asphalt or toffee

Yes; air cooled engines usually have temp.meters for cyl-heads, exhaust gasses and oil temp.

Mitsu those propably meant oil-coolers and maybe fan like in BMW-801 which had fan (about dozen blades or so) between propeller and cylinders.

exuast gas temps are used for fine tuning air/fuel mix, IE: leaner =hotter, richer=cooler.

air cooled engs have cyl head temps or oil temps or both.

maybe you guess all the temp gauges the multiply them by five and divide by the number of guns the plane carys.

Mitsu, by "coolant" Superfly probably meant a liquid, such as antifreeze (ethlene glycol/water mix).
