funnily enough, i have a MS FFB2  and in 1.05 had all 8 buttons working, then after 1.06 came out lost the 7 and 8 buttons, finally got them back in 1.09.2

guess i know where they were taken from.  :o)

between 1.06 and 1.09.2  i simply used the SW software to map those two "missing buttons" and had no plms using them while the rest was mapped under the AH routine.

I dont know if this is related but I had several problems with usb devices, windows not switching off & loosing joysticks & stuff.
After spending ages looking for a fix someone suggested getting a usb hub. I got a 4 port hub & it fixed most of my problems:)

Thats running win98se with asus a7a266 mb.

I've used two different MS Sidewinders for the last... 5 or 6 years and never had a  problem.  I use a Sidewinder Precision Pro on Win98SE via USB at the moment and everything works, all 8 buttons.  I also use the SW software to make the SHIFT button work as well so I have more total buttons, it works well.

Make sure you have DX 8.1.  Make sure you have no IRQ conflicts with your USB devices.  Make sure you use Windows Update and get all applicable updates for your OS.  Check MS for any updates for the Sidewinder software and drivers.
