I think SirLoin's point is why do we always have to go to war to solve problems. In a perfect world, Diplomacy should be the way to resolve all conflicts. But as Cabby pointed out, this ain't a perfect world we live in.
Still, I wish it didn't have to be so. I spent yesterday with my mom looking at pictures of her father, who was killed in WWII a week before she was born. The pictures of my young grandfather as a newly-wed groom and his bride, my grandmother, really gives pause for reflection on the true meaning of war.
Some people forget the human toll that war brings. I wish there was some way to abolish war. But the pragmatist in me know's that's a pipedream.
