Stick Settings
« on: April 11, 2002, 09:25:06 AM »
After playing RR in air warrior for 6 years I find AH one of the hardest to get stick settings the way I'm used to. I've asked several players about the sliders and seems they are all different. I know the players who played here for a while have it down to a science by now. I use microsoft prec pro 2 and tried to tweak my stick settings but you never know where to start or dont totally understand it all.Wouldn't it be better to have a sight or these guys  who are aces to post their settings.? I realize its their (edge) but their skill would always overcome any setting they would discole and would surely help the new people on their gameplay and we wouldn't get so frustrated! Am I whining? foregive me.

there maybe a site out there with the info u seek.

I used to use a prec pro and i found it difficult to get right in AH

It took along time for me to get the scaling to a point where I could 'make do'

What i used is..

sliders at 100% for the roll axis
deadband at about 5% with damping around 10%

for pitch I used an exponential curve
starting real low and staying low for first 5 sliders or so

the rudder was the most problematic with the prec pro, i finally went to rudder pedals and was sooo much happier
you can use racing pedals for ah, which could save you some money.

I tried exponential and a diagonal from 0 to 100, but i think (if i remember correct) that i used a curve similar to my pitch curve.

I now use a saitek cyborg and the stick is much nicer  than the ppro, because it offers a larger range of movement making the stick less sensitive.  Its also cheaper...

I was looking for the same info a couple of days ago and found a good post in the archives. The post has links to screen shots that other players took of their settings. I then went through the ranking scores and found those players that posted with some of the best ranks and adapted their controlls to mine - worked like a charm.. The result was a lot smoother ride, better responce and sharp turns....

thnx to all those that posted

The post that shows the settings I used were from July 2001
started by ZXMAW..

One of the posts I was really looking at was by Lephturn..with his screen shots...

Try this stick scale , it's set up to help eliminate the nose bounce you see in the game.  Just download and unzip to your Aces High\Settings folder.  You might want to rename your original stick.cfg file to stick.bak in case you decide to go back to your old stick scale.
