I guess this is the right time to ask this since next version is about the SFX department.

my requests

1. planes that fly on unmanned after pilot bails and eventually crash as the pilot floats down to earth

2. planes that fly on unmanned after the pilot is killed and proceed along the same way the bailed planes do into a death spiral or the likes pointed earthbound.

3. lower tollerance of airframe for ditching at speed ( +150mph into the woodlands and shrubbery should be fatal)

4. kills awarded for aircraft that have been ditched assuming the shooter is nearby and has hit them with gunfire.


as you may have guessed I am hoping by having these SFX we will be able to use historical tactics such as fiegning death since the shooter will not know our pilots vital signs. bailing will be more fun since we get to watch our shattered plane plummet while we ride the silk. and by awarding kills for aircraft that have been forced to land we will see both chivalry and more determination to fight on against the odds.

be cool to be fighting a loosing battle in my p38 shot to bits, leaking fuel and blown radiators, wingtip missing, leaking fuel n oil, the enemy pilot pulls along side waggles their wings and salutes then flies off to find their next victim since they had forced me down and were duely credited for their achievement.

then we can say chivalry aint dead in Aces High

Ditching shall award kill ONLY if pilot is captured.

And capturing system seems too straight. If (distance_to_the_closest_enemy _ base < distance_to_closest_frieldy_b ase) {capture();}

It is not very realistic. In the real world pilots may escape capture even if bailed very close to enemy base, or captured if bailed close to friendly base. I think it shall be based on % of distance to the base and should be couted randomly.
The closer to the nme base the higher chance to be captured.

Right now I ditch as soon as I cross 50% mark, and always get ditch. With random system I will try to ditch as close to friendly base as only possible.

Contrails! - of course with an option to turn them off if they kill your fps.

Dead engines/fuel/oil leaks smoke effect dying out after a certain time period.

Hit flashes only for explosive/incendiary hits, and "debris" falling off if damage is done.

Tracer ratio option.

If you kill a plane and fly through the debris/explosion, some sort of collision damage should certainly result. An incentive for less HO and collisions perhaps?

Here's my Special FX wish list:

1. Engine fires that you can try to extinguish(won't always work, though)

2. Oil & hydraulic fuel & coolant spray on the windscreen.

3. Varied damage animations for ground vehicles(Turrets that lift off the tank when hit just right, vehicle fires, etc.)

4. Damaged engines that sound and act damaged(sputter, etc.)

Good selections banana, to which I would add

1.  Realistic sun glare
2.  Bring back the Beta Version 0.35 'halo effect'
3.  Work on the blackout modelling.. perhaps greyout THEN blackout
4.  No bailout if pulling more than +2g's, or over 350 kias

I dont know why you are so obsessed with ditching

If you dich in RL, youre plane doesnt disappear so i cannot strafe it, if I force your plane down to the ground and make it inoperable thats a kill

I try to ditch in the current system because its available, but IMHO ditching is stupid and should not be in the game point wise (counts same as a bail)
