my stick is dead....
« on: April 16, 2002, 05:45:18 PM »
I cant even play anymore. It's progressed from just the occasional spike, now anytime i move my stick forward and left it spikes full deflection in the opposite direction and makes my plane stall and freak out.

My stick is a microsoft sidewinder pro, withOUT the force feed back. Is there anything I can do? I'm not about to send it away for months to microsoft so they can tell me I need to buy a new one.

If not what cheap stick you guys playing with. I've heard both good and bad things about the cyborg, but I think that will be my next stick unless you guys have another idea.

I love my x 36 combo....I've smashed the poor thing to bits (throttle)....and epoxied it back togeather at least 4 times (see what you SOB's but me through). Anyway, best 90 bucks I ever spent. The new x45 is even cheaper but supposedly just as good.

What budget? The jury is still out on the Cougar but initial impressions are d*mn good. Failing that, get yourself a Saitek.

Hmmm. I'm using a Logitech Extreme Digital 3D and am quite pleased with it. Not bad for about $40 at Comp USA.

I've had very few problems with my Cyborg USB.  (Had it for 9 months or so and on a couple occasions I had to reboot to get input.)  I recommend it.

go here

what cyborg should I get? they have a "Saitek Cyborg 3D Stick" listed for $20. then they have a "Saitek Cyborg Stick 2000" listed for $70. and a "Saitek Industries Cyborg 3D Gold USB" listed for $45. I'm .

I need usb, is the gold the only one that comes with it? What makes the 2000 $50 more then the regular 3d stick?

I made the leap and went with a X45

So far, its pretty good, and has worked very well within Windows 2000 Pro.

Im still breaking the stick in.  Its making some horrible squeaking sounds and it seems like a lot of work to hold level manually.  But I am also told by others that have the X45 that its fairly normal for some stiffness or awkward feeling until I've broken the thing in.

From a Microsoft Sidewinder (where the buttons are all close together) to an X45 (where they are more spread out)....its quite a change.  But having so many toggles, programmable, and within reach on the throttle and stick, its quite nice.

Never had much luck with anything Logitech.  Thrustmaster, MS and Saitek have been pretty good to me.
