We ever gonna get rid of the arcade 88's? As it is now they'd be better suited in X-wing or something, really, you can fly a B17, Lanc or Ju88 (any big plane) through 10 minutes of fleet ack and field ack combined and most of the time you survive. Take a fighter, open the throttle full and dive in 60 degree 600mph dive and 88's WILL get you within a few seconds. Turnfight, loop, spin, dive, zoom up in 90 degrees in 500 mph and they will get you.
This is getting VERY anoying, 88's work were to shoot down level flying bombers (or other planes flying level) not to use pin-point accuracy to shoot down a 500mph diving and turning P51.
The shells used in WW2 were set on time, you had the alt and speed of the enemy and you calculate dthe travel time for the shell, fired well ahead and put up a wall of flack (anybody who's seen Memphise Belle know what I am talking about).
To calculate, shoot, change time, fire etc on a fighter going vertical or turning and changing altitude with such shells is WAY beyond Impossible, even a computer controlled gun with such ammo would miss a twisitng and turning fight.
How does it work in AH? Why are fighters the most common planes to get wacked by uber laser aimed 88's who can't really hit anything that's going slower then 250mph and flying straight but hit everything fast/turning and maybe even altitude changing.
The reason I write this is because my 262's got wacked by 88's when I was fighting another 262 outside A10 on Isles map.
We started fighting ( Trikky) and an F4u joined in, got a snapshot on him then went down to the deck and put about 1000 yards between me and trikky, heading away from the enemy CV near A10. Think trikky know what I was doing and we flew away for maybe a minute, we were FAR away from CV when I started scissoring and let him in closer, snapshot from him and from me I finally succeeded to get on his six and a climb fight started. Flying about 400 yards behind him he kept it just out of my reach, was very nice flying! We suddenly hit 3000 feet and 1 second after I got hit by a direct 88mm, POOF, Trikky gets the kill.
Np with him getting a kill, no problem with losing a 262, have enough perks for quite a few more. But getting killed by 88's when in such a position FREAKING SUCKS. It was the second time in 2 days I was killed by 88's like that. The other time I was in a TA152 going vertical in 350mph heading down on a N1K2 and AGAIN the 88's laser accuracy puts an 88 in my cockpit.
Trikky, not a whine against you, was a great fight and and VERY fun!
HT, get rid of the dweebish arcade 88's, make them realistic or make them not shoot at any fighter or something (bad solution but better then this). As it is now they pull down the whole realism thing with AH to a VERY gamish level.
