RB3D was prettier, but DoA was more playable from the MMOG standpoint. Same old argument. With today's technology, who knows?

Doa was my first online Flight Sim. And I agree with Kieren, it still holds a loyal following despite 2+ years of no development. I would never have held an IEN account or bothered with WB if DOA wasnt there.

I realise its never going to happen but if there were  a  Dawn of Aces High arena here I would be in there pretty much exclusively.

And no, I checked back in on doa during that free week deal a while back and there was still no zeplin cockpit art.

Pretty sure there was cockpit art Roscoe, perhaps you had to download it seperately.

VGO has been contracted by iEN to continue development with Dawn of Aces and to eventually bring it up to speed similar to WBIII. (For better or worse, depending on how you look at it!) :)

I have flown DoA offline only, but have not yet been able to shoot any of the drones down!

YEAH! It'll be cool if HTC did a WW1 arena. I miss flying my D7 in my limited AWDOS flying time when CAF hosted WW1 Night.

I'm already getting upset that my Fokker DVII seems to compress so early in a dive!

Sigh, a WW1 Flight Sim  would be my dream come true.

I love wings with wires :)

I played Red Baron off-line, then Flying Circus on line, then Red Baron 3D.  I tried DOA, but the poor graphics, and lazer guns turned me off.  Nothing against DOA really, just not my cup of tea,  I know a lot of people really enjoyed it. :)

Now I am in AH.  A kewl place, but only a stop for me until a decent WWI sim appears.

I miss my Neuport 17s/24s, Sopwith Pups/ Tripehounds and Camels and Snipes.

Actually my favorite matches are a D2 against my DH-2 or N11. :)

Someday my friends, for all things come to those who wait :)

Still, AH is a ever so cool oasis to rest in until someone comes with a decent WWI.  Love that F4UD!  {as an ex-Marine should ;) ]

AKEagle,

, I don't think you could have expressed it any better.

(Although I am confused about your failing to mention anything about the "simple beauty inherent in the lines of the Albatrossen...")

I loved the DVa of DoA. An elegant killer with an Achilles Heel.

I signed up for DoA several months back... played a few nights, had some fun. However, there were only maybe 20 people in there... and every single one of them was a day-one, hardcore, super-ace. Talk about no mercy for newbies! At least I deprived them of a kill, many times, by snapping into an unrecoverable spin. :p

Anyway, if I had the time, I could reeeeally get into a WWI sim (my first love**), but until then...

BTW, Birds of Prey looks sweet. Ya think all those models in the galleries will be flyable?

Mudd :)

A Faux Paux Sir!

Sigh, manys the sortie I flew in Red Baron as the blood thirsty Hauptmann Otto von Doom, in his feared white winged green fuselaged Alby D2! :)

And of course who can say more than to adorate the DR-1????  Overmodeled in structural integrety in most WWI sims, due I think to the fact that many of us see great heros in Voss and Richtofen.  (I have a great affection, and admiration for the Huns of WWI but not so of the LW of WWII)

On line the AKs tended to fly more times as allied.  Not a predjudice, it was just that in many WWI sims you had a overbalance of Huns, and the AK would tend to even things out.  Also, in RB23D the Allied crates tended to be harder to fly with less effective guns (in earlier plane sets).  If you could take it to the Huns your skills as a pilot would definately improve.
