Skuzzy,you are wrong about his needing his suit to scale walls.

 I've been collecting Spider-man comics all my life....my collection has many that show him clinging without his suit.

 You also left out his superhuman strength...somewhere on the order of 100 times that of an ordinary man.He was supposed to be able to lift ten tons.

It's too bad they didn't have Kirsten dunst play Gwen Stacy.

then they could have killed her off during the fight with the green goblin according the the marvel site:

=====
Peter's costumed career has had its share of ups and downs. His first love, Gwen Stacy, died during a battle between Spider-Man and the Green Goblin.
=====

That would be have been a great move imo.

happily ever after, everyone gets saved is so boring.

Yeah, "The Amazing Spider-Man" #120 (if memory serves), should Sox care to look that up.

Spidey used his web to snag her, but her heart gave out anyway. Hey, at least her clone lives on!:)

Somehow, I'm thinking the movie doesn't do the Spidey story justice.

Sorry I am a big Spidey fan and I liked it a lot!

Sure there were some changes made to the story but they were minor enough to still make it worth watching.

The only thing I would have changed was having Kirsten Dunst play MJ. MJ is supposed to be a super model not the girl next door.(Well I guess she was the girl next door but you know what I mean)
I have been reborn a new man!

Notice I never said a better man.

Never said he could not scale a wall.  If you look at that pane, you will note he is scaling a building with cornerstones protruding from the corners.
Find one where he goes upside down clinging from a ceiling without his suit or something to hang on to.

I can't find one.

If you have the original Spidey comic, look in the section where he is making his web shooters and suit.  Read it carefully.  His strength is higher than normal, but I believe they augmented it in later issues.

And I thought the movie was terrific.  You do not need to know about Spidey to enjoy it and if you do, it is fun to see how well they portrayed this guy.

Well Voss, I think they did it right.  The movie assumes you know zip about Spidey and in that light they did a nice job of getting you to know the characters.

The ground work for a really good sequel, which will no doubt be done.

Spiderman was cool, I enjoyed the comics and I did enjoy the movie even with the changes. My only gripe was that he didn't talk "smack" during his fights which was a little disappointing.

I saw the movie last night.  It was interesting seeing the spiderman story as an adult.  That this was really a story about a young man's struggle for sexual identity was completely lost on me as a child.

I mean, when the movie starts out, Parker can't wait to get into M.J.s pants.  Thats all he thinks about.  Even after the minor plot detour of him getting bit by a spider and morphing into a superhuman crimefighter, he still can't wait to bag her.

Then he meets the green goblin, and the fireworks fly.  One thing leads to another, and they find themselves slapping each other around in a sadomasochistic love scene culminating with the Goblin asking Spidey to be his life partner so they can rule the world together.

Afterwards, Parker -- as Spiderman -- is confused.  He doesn't know what to think, or how to interpret his feelings.  For the rest of the movie, Spidey is teetering between the kitty and the sausage.  Finally, unable to cope with the fact that he might actually be a homosexual, Spidey kills the gay goblin in a symbolic attempt to exorcise himself of his homosexual desires.

But alas, this is not a happy story.  Even with the object of his immoral urges destroyed, Parker cannot be happy as a heterosexual.  He spurns M.J.'s advances, and instead chooses to continue his life as a sexually repressed superhero so as to avoid exploring the truths of his sexuality -- at least until the sequel.
