What do you do for work? <Pic> Software my firm makes
« on: May 10, 2002, 11:29:32 AM »
Thought we had a few sailing types in here at some point.  Someone had asked to see the Navigation software we make...its in use by the US Coast Guard, US Navy (subs, cargo haulers, USS Enterprise, etc etc....huge list), Commercial Fishing Vessels, cruisers and the whole bit.  We just released a new version a few weeks ago with our own 3D program that not only shows your vessel's position on a NOAA chart, but the 3D/underwater bathymetrics too.

I've worked here for 3 years.  While I'm largely Tech Support and Testing, I'm the resident Network/Computer/Web guru.  Its fun stuff, even if all my naviation experience is aviation (my 2 co workers are former Coasties).

How's about you guys?  Anyone else work for a software firm that makes cool gizmos too?   :D   (We already know you do, Superfly!)

We have a guy from the island who is currently gearing up to sail in the Round the World Alone yacht race.  I wonder if he is using this?

No cool gizmos, only calculus. But it's the best of its kind.

Of course, I only see what he posts here and what he does in the MA.  I know virtually nothing about the man.  I think its important for people to realize that we don't really know squat about each other.... definately not enough to use words like "hate".

this one would be gone, but there are generally always some of these IT jobs open around here. http://aiadp.lackland.af.mil/Employment/BJMO2-100PB.doc

You should check the Civ Personnel office of an AF base near you.
