FW 190...a small request
« on: November 04, 1999, 08:34:00 AM »
I ve looked at the 190 screenshot again (and again   ) and noticed the black shape on the side of the fuselage just underneath the cockpit. To me it looks like the "neck section" of the famous black eagle logo that was painted on some FWs.
Now my question is: Will we get to see the entire thing, with the eagle's head on the engine cowling? I know it's a silly request, but I'd love to have that logo on my 190, it just looks so cool!

Please Pyro? Pretty please?

It looks cooler cut off IMO. Wish we would have gotten some JG 1 coloring with some neat black/white cowl colors...

Sascha - I think only one JG (JG2?) used the eagle's head.  Many other JG's used only the "neck" on the fuselage, and many of the eagle's head planes lost their "heads" to make way for Gruppe/Staffel markings or personal markings.

In any case, I think this is supposed to be a plane from JG26, who never used the "head".

Sascha, the RL plane with the marking of the AH 190 was the one flown by Priller. It looks a little different than yours.

It's true...I "stole" the image from one of vadr's posts on AGW.

Still a cool nose art, even though only one JG used it.

I mean until we get customizable nose art every game has to make a compromise and use one specific paint scheme for every plane, right? The WB's 109 F-4 for example represents the personal plane of Marseille if I remember correctly.

Sascha:

Why are you waiting for Fw 190 anyhow? JG 77 was all Bf 109 Jagdgeschwader. Better go to JG 2 after all...

Correct, only JG 2 did use 'eagles head' marking on cowling. JG 1 and JG 26 used only the part behind the cowling line to hide the exhaust stains.

Sascha, come to the darkest side! We have Fw 190 just like that waiting for you in JG 2 hangar!

Do you prefer APIT rounds, or just Incendiary?

I find that the APIT rounds can sometimes overcook the center, making the FW quite nasty to chew on.
