Arafat`s speech...this might be it

Ha`aretz

It looks like this time he actually learnt something.
I  hope he really means what he says, and has the power to do as well.
Israel can`t reject such deal. It`s allmost too good to be true.

Well the proof is in the pudding.  He's said all this before, why should we believe him now?  Time will tell I guess.....

True,but I still have hope.
If he fails this time, nobody will ever talk to him anymore.
The IDF will go back in,slay some more terrorists and civilians that terrorists hide behind, and adventually they`ll have to give up.
It can`t go on forever.

It's all rather irrelevant with Likud saying that there will never be a Palestinian state.

It's been going on for decades already without Palestinians giving up. IMHO that crise could last 'till the end of the world if Israel and Palestinians aren't able to find a way to live together.

Now it looks like Arafat is willing to start negotiations with Israel and the Sharon has the ball now. Let's see if he kicks it to the crowd or will he pass it back to Arafat.

So how many times does this make?  Why should anybody believe him?  He's stalling for more time to rebuild his terrorist infrastructure, period.  Same tactic he's always used, which is the same tactic that Saddam uses......

Udie - didn't you anything Daff or Fd-ski wrote?

Let me summarise:

Sharon's party, Lekud, will NEVER recognise a Palestinian state.

So how do you reckon he can negociate a peace deal with the Palestinians if his position is so immovable?

Also, the latest intelligence reports state that Saddam is not involved in terrorism.

Are you refering to the recent evidence (or really lack therof) that Iraq had nothing to do with the Sept. 11th attacks (the alleged meeting between Atta and Iraqi Intel) or is there something else involved here?

its all roadkill. Arafat has no real power, he's just a figurehead. He only has power as long as the cameras are pointed at him.

He cant stop any terrorrist attacks, nor does he have any kind of credibility left.

If arafat dies things would be much better..the next "leader" would have a fresh start and THEN there might be a chance at peace.

Many israelis believe that palestinians fight not to have their own state but to destroy Israel. In view of that allowing them to have their own army would be a bad error on israeli's part.

If a generation passed without hostilities, nobody in Israel would care if palestinians had their own state or not.

The US goverment failed to provide any evidence to the UK goverment that Iraq, despite all it's flaws (and gesturing) had any involvement in 9/11. It didnt get all that big headlines on the news, as it's not exactly what Tony wanted to hear. (Tony likes bombing Iraq and would love to do it some more).
