From MS precision pro to Cougar HOTAS
« on: May 19, 2002, 03:30:43 AM »
I am an original TM user.  I bought an FCS, FCS Pro, WCS Mk 2, TQS, F-16, F-22 and now own the Cougar.  I stopped using MS products when I switched to NT 4.0 sometime in 97.  Analog sticks weren't very well supported back then and the TM stuff had problems due to a bug in MS's analog joystick driver.  So... for 4 years I used MS products to play various flight sims (WB, FC, RB2 and AH).

I finally went back to TM when they switched to USB.  The new Cougar is quite simply the best stick I've ever owned.

There is a problem, however.  It is VERY difficult to go from a twisty-stick to a pair of rudder pedals again.  I keep trying to twist the Cougar when I would have with the MSPPro.  I hardly ever use the damn rudder pedals when I need to.

Its a steep re-education in the ways of flight.

Deja, I am in the exact same boat as you.  Its the pedals that are the tough part to learn.  Having a blast learning to use 'em right though. :)

try reversing the axis on your rudder pedals so u 'push' the nose with your pedals.   left foot pushes nose to the right etc.

Thats abit close to a twisty setup perhaps...

When i first started using pedals for AH (racing) they would only work in reverse axis to me it seems natural, tho i've been usin em this way for over a yr.  I now have my CH Pro's reversed as well

LOL!  I have always used rudder pedals and doubt I could ever get used to a twisty-stick!  :p
