Could we possibly see any seaplanes in the future?
« on: May 21, 2002, 09:38:27 PM »
I'm not familiar with names - but there were as many of these doing recon, SAR, etc.  maybe the Duck or the PBY?

What if downed pilots in the water couldnt .ef unless picked up by a SAR plane? I know it would bore the tears out of most sitting there bobbing in the water but I am curious

Or just reward the downed pilot with a successful return and the SAR pilot extra perksfor bringin him home??

There were also a couple of bombers (IJN??)in that category

Well for what its worth I think at least 1 would be nice in the future to add to this already awesome sim

Hey you just gave me a Great Idea! If you are picked up by a Seaplane instead of loosing all your kills it just starts u back off at base and can continue kill streak, but they would also have to be used for other things like dropping small ammounts of cargo?

I wish there were some way of keeping kills better, in real life if you had to land w/engine out or even crashland but survived you didn't loose all of your kills... I would like to see a "repair" pad like the rearm pad.

But it could still be used for:

1: Scouting
2: maybe it could carry 2-3 troops (this would be usefull if you have a formation of 4 of them concidering they are catagorised as "Bombers")
3: Carry small ammount of supplies
4: Could be used as a light dive bomber... I'm sure some carried bombs.

Hi

I aggree...

If you managed to land a plane that is damaged, you could taxi into the hangar and get it fixed. I think this should take a bit longer than refueling.

That would prolly make more pilots try to get back home, and not just bail and get into new once.

I also think you shold be able to continue with your kills if you get into tower when you have landed and get a new plane or whatever for the hangar. This should continue until you have been killed or captured.

this question of repairing planes is something I personally would also like to see happen in the future - here is one scenario:

Since I fly a 51 this'll be easy -

If I take a 1 ping rad hit  and nurse the plane back home - and get her to a hangar or a repair pad, then I should park the plane and start the wait for the repair. If we were alloted a certain amount of repair crew per field - I could either wait in a queue or lineup - and fly another plane other than the 51 til she is repaired, or come back after the alloted time to go again. whether or not i can exit the game is another matter for the wait - but this again is just ideas...

I don't know about time restrictions to replace parts but it seems reasonable that other than having to land missing a gear most parts could be repaired in a reasonable amount of time

If I take an oil hit and leak her dry - they can patch the hole and refill that puppy with Pennzoil :)

If I lose an aileron or rudder - they can attach a new one with some ease.

All in all - repairing airframes should be as or more common as getting your gv repaired out in the field???

Again these are just ideas

oh yeah karnak - an Emily would rock - she's a big bird - but imagine her landing on choppy water and the spray hitting the windshield...
