Why do people......
« on: February 09, 2001, 07:01:00 AM »
I am knit and i notice this all the time:

We will have 20 people or so attacking a base.  There will be big green bars at the enemy base, with an almost equal red bar.  When i flew over the base in my b26, i noticed there was nobody attacking the base, just some of our guys getting killed by 10 fighters.  I then hear "We need more bobmers at blah blah."

I get so pissed off when people think they can capture attack a base by
A.  Sending fighters over with ordinanace
B. More fighters
C. More fighters

And on top of that, we were sending those 20 people like 2 at a time, and they were always raped by the lone 10 defenders at the base. If we want to take a base, why can't we do this

A. Organise a strike
B. Send bobmers over ahead of fighters so masses of fighters cannot up.
C. Then send jabo's over
D. Goon it.

If u send 5-7 b17's to a base, no matter what size, u can sure as hell knock out FH's, maybe get VH.  Why do people insist on sending 2 fighters at a time?

Why don't you organize a strike.

Why don't you direct people what plane and ordinance to fly.

Why don't you try to take a base without fighters suppressing those 10 defenders.

Why don't you try to drop goons on a field full of ack.

Why don't you try to fly that bomber over a field where the CAP isn't pulled low, or drawn away.

In short, no matter how anyone plays someone has just got to come along and tell them how they are doing it wrong.

i think that for all fiealds u can have just:
1) 5 jabo planes (p47;f4u;p38)
2) 5 light fighter cover
3) 2 goon`s (c47 or m3)

if atack is done corect and coordination is corect there is no weay to defend fieald under atack like that.

Amen, Brother Kieren!
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

a free tip:  vulching a fighter is a LOT easier than killing the SHI** loads of osties that are going to up if you destroy the FHs and NOT the VH first ...

" I then hear "We need more bobmers at blah blah." "

It's this simple. Soon you will learn who to trust from those who have tourettes.   Some folks know wtf they are talking about, they have some semblence of SA, while others you'll notice plain old haven't a clue.

Wegaman,

Its easy.  Its a damned-if-you-do  and damned-if-you-dont situation.

A couple of months ago, it seemed every night, Knights would duke it out for A5.  As a bomber guy, I'd manage to get in there, but raped badly by the fighters there.  We'd hear folks yell for more fighters, but then we'd also get the all too famous "We're about to loose <this base>" and half our forces would run there.  Or....

1.  If you ask people to join in, they wouldn't do it in sizable numbers, as you mentioned.

2.  If you did try to organize a mission, many wouldn't join.  Don't know why, just know they wouldnt

Been there, done that.

Don't get me wrong, if memory seves I managed to get 2 other bombers and 2 fighters to walk us into a5 and level it.  We just couldnt get a gooney there...the poor guy was always shot outta the sky by that mass of defending fighters.

Its frustrating when you are SOOO close to taking a base and keep winding up trying to regroup.

Then again, I've been on some teams that have everything timed right.  I've seen missions of 30 people steamrollers base after base in an evening.  Now THAT'S a lot of fun.  Only problem is being the last guy in the formation/attack....like being last in line at the buffet! hehehe

I think it's funny when 20 friendly dots are trying to take A1 while we are being smashed on both fronts; and those 20 keep saying "The base is down get a goon" and "A1 will be ours in 10 minutes".........and 1.5 hours later it is finally captured, after we've lost 10 other bases.

On a related note,

When you're pushing for a reset, and there are a dedicated few people on your side wasting their time on unimportant *cough* knight* *cough* fields, it's incredibly frustrating.

While we were trying to capture the ever-important A16 at about 3am this morning, one guy said to me something to the likes of "Why are you trying to reset bish - we lose fields if we reset" and argued his point for 30 min on country chan. While yes, we do lose our fields, the guy wouldn't understand the point of winning the war and getting bragging rights.   And on Hangtime's joint squad night, too!

Another pilot (who supposedly squelched me) criticized our every move on the bishop home island as pointless.

After we had successfully captured 16 and moved on to 17, I noticed above pilot participating in the raid and vulching the field. Kind of makes winning the war sad when you have 15 guys working on the same goal and 2 or 3 others act loud and obnoxious.

<S> to all the rooks who burned the midnight oil to finish what we started.

I'd have to agree I don't like holding any country to the minimum of resources just so we can "own". Fortunately I don't need the permission of anyone to grab a goon and take a field.

I was on for a bit last night but left in disgust as the majority of the Rooks on at that time didn't want to reset.

I know I know everyone fly how and what you want but yeesh! The Bish were down to 3 bases and our guys wouldn't closeh em cause we didn't have enough bases to win. All they wanted to do was vulch em.

Then to top things off when the Bish got another base the Knights and Bish joined together to fight us.

Real fun!..no..really..had a blast.

<S> to Bish for staying alive but <finger> to Knights and Rooks for trying to drag it out.

This is directed to the ones that were on the same time I was.
I have been reborn a new man!

Mighty -

I was on from 10pm EST - 5am, didn't see ya - but the entire time, we had a large field advantage over the knights. hblair counted em up and we figured we could lose up to 10 bases to the knights before we'd be even.

Most of us weren't trying to drag it out, but lack of organization made flattening a field long enough for a goon to make it in impossible.

That final last-chance jabo run to 16 saved us, I firmly believe. Was about 7 hours overdue though.

Also, the fact that we kept taking your 'lights out' doesn't help much.

Some take the path of least resistance, in the Knights case, early afternoon, that *would* have been Bishland, however, while I was on, most focused on the Northern properties of Rookland, and they defended it extremely well! (Bastiges!)

As a Knight fighting...group I was flyin with realized we were behind in bases so we laid off the Bish....and didn't want a reset. Started to try & get some quick rook bases. Did have a fun Jabo mission to rook HQ though.
