Seen lots of whining about the La7..and it definatly is a great plane.
It should be noted that the 3 gun version is quite a bit more usefull then the 2 gun version. I was looking around and stumbled across some info on the 3 gun La7 that was interesting...
Look at the cowl changes..any effect on performance from that...
here is the accompaning text..
"La-7 (Moscow): The KP La-7 kit actually represents an aircraft built at the Moscow (or Omsk) State factories, with an armament of two 20mm ShVAK cannon. However, the Production Contract specification for the La-7 actually stipulated an armament of three of the new Berezin B-20 'lightweight' cannon, each with 130 rounds. Such was the enormous demand for the B-20, however, that only at one factory-- the model Zavod 381 facility at Moscow-- was the La-7 aircraft actually so completed. These fearsome three-gun models were simply referred to as "B-20 Lavochkin-7s", and they were highly prized by VVS pilots"
This 3 b20 version almost sounds like a perk version of the Aircraft..
130 rounds per gun...any opinions on the accuracy of that?
60 less 20mm is nothing to sneeze at ....
I wish I had good info on these soviet AC but I do not. The only books I have come across are just too sparse in real info....
oops..these guys deserve a link to their cool site..
