I already was used to trackIR when IL2 was released so for me it was just a breeze. A lot of it depends on your panning speed settings as well i think, find a good compromise between speed and accuracy. Trust me, once you get used to dogfighting while trackIR is active, you will not want to go back to snapviews ever. I tried snapviews again but found myself moving my head all around in unision with my hatswitch :D
The most you will want to do is pause it to shoot. For tracking, scanning purposes you will want to have it active.

I find using trackIR actually quite similar to using snapviews because your headmovement tells you exactly where you are looking. The difference is that you use your head to look around which adds a lot to the immersion coz it's so natural. But being accurate with it is really all about headcontrol.  And headcontrol is something you will pick up along the way while using trackIR.

The way i use it in IL2 is, how i would like it to act in AH as well. Having it active from start to finish. Only pausing it on landing or take off or when i need to look away from the monitor. I have the pause function mapped to a button on the stick. I still have the snapviews on the HAT but more for old times sake in the unlikely event *knock on wood* that trackIR should fail me :)

Other programming features i have on my CH throttle.

IIRC the keymapping was implemented allow trackIR users to play sims where there was no mouselook available (WB's). You can program a viewing direction to a key. But i must confess i've never used it. IL2 is currently the only sim i play and it doesn't require the use of keymapping. Reportedly the trackIR works absolutely the best in FS2002 but i don't have that one.

Just glad that thanks to your descriptions i got it to work in AH!

Thx again and cheers!:)
