I won't make this personal as I don't want to be at your level.

I just want to point out an observation that you yourself made. You said you wanted a HA with emphasis on historical match ups and a realistic map. You got it in the "old" CT. The fact that you yourself sat there for hours alone should tell you something about the viability of the original concept. It obviously wasn't a big hit as it was set up.

HT is in the business of listening to and catering to customers. That is how he and his employees make their living. Unless you are going to take up the load of those customers who are NOT currently using the CT as a VIABLE arena you really haven't got much of a complaint. If the arena takes off and gets up to a fair amount of traffic, your position will be even more plain as the odd man out.

Let them finish what they have started and try it out. Don't just blow it off before it happens.

Finally BTW the F6 vs LW WAS a historical matchup. The Brits used it on escort CV's in the Atlantic. If they gave you a "historical" map of the Pacific it might just end up being only water as that pond is rather large. That would limit you to cv vs cv only. It would be even MORE boring than the "uterus" and far more restrictive in game play. Be careful what you ask for, you might just get it and be even more alone.

yeah f6fs fighting LW 109s and 190s over the atlantic was common as muck right? how many times did it occour? ever?? show me the proof as you guys love to say.then find data on F4uds and Tbms fighting ju88s and 190f8s eh? GOOD LUCK with that one.
maybe they fought long range condors or straffed a few uboats i dont know but I certainly cant find a single reference to F6/F4u/Tbm vs 190/109/ju88 fights.
As for me somehow asking for a CV vs CV in the pacific(?? i assume you meant atlantic) fight? LW never had an aircraft carrier so what are you going on about??.I dont mind F6fs flying and fighting IJN (in pacific isles map we have in SEA on occation) or LW in the MED (only place i would guess 109 vs f6 could possibly occour?) but i do object heavily to fantasy maps with aircraft pitted against each other that Ive never read a single account of or have seen proof of.

Hazed, My post wasn't directed at you personally. I thought about not putting in the "F" word, but it seams thats the only way to get the message across in these boards lately.

There was a discussion in the CT folder that was pretty informative where people offered their oppinions pro's and cons.

I'm just sick of people bashing the CM team or people who volunteer their time to improve gameplay in AH. Although that may not been your intent.

Crash, No i am not making the CT map, ( although the CT Team is well aware they have my services whenever needed) I AM however working on 3 maps for the CT team, none as a member of the Team. I WILL submit them to the CT team and hope for the best.

Xmas day, 1940, the British Martlet (F4F) shot down a JU88, the first German aircraft to fall to a US plane.

Page 102 of "Hellcat" - Barret Tillman
Has a photograph of an F6F with four Nazi kill victories on it and the caption reads:

"Alred R Wood and Ltn jg Edward W Olszewski with the VOF-1 Hellcat in which they shot down four German aircraft over southern France. On 20 August 1944 Wood destroyed two HE-111s near Lyon. The next day Olszewski shot down a pair of JU52s in the same F6F-5."

But most people don't think of F6Fs and F4Us fighting FWs and 109s and it just doesn't seem normal. However, we have to make due w/ a limited plane set. One day...one day.. Wildcats and Warhawks.

They did. F4F, F6F and F4u's. The Germans even captured a ditched "FAA" F4U in Norway.
