My thought was not flawed.  There is no 32 plane limit.

This can be witnessed in AH film easily.

Just jump into a con that flies further away from you.. You'll notice that after a certain distance the cons position updates will start to be jumpy, updating once per second.

I think the same thing happens when 32 plane limit is exceeded.

Ive seen several posts about inviso planes lateley .
Im wondering if its the same problem WB had when ever 32 planes are visible the 33rd OR 34 OR 35 isnt ,
seems possible considering who programmed WB and AH .

Just a thought

Rickod

Rickod presented a "32 plane limit" as a possible explanation for the invisable planes.  There is no 32 plane limit.  All planes in dot range are visable.

We tested this about a year ago during Sniper's memorial flyby.  We had over 75 airplanes and chutes (honor guard) and GVs at an airfield.  Sure enough, precisely 32 of them were visible as graphic objects, and the rest were just warpy dots, even though they were at close range.  There were several player films showing this.  They may have increased the limit since then, but as of Sniper's memorial it was 32.

I just looked at my frame 4 bigweek film.

I cant count the icons because they are 1 big mass. But the numbers of dots was well over 32.

The names (in ah film viewer) I counted on the right totaled at highest 37 but not all the dots were in range. As more came in range some moved out.

I sure dont think the inviso plane thing is 32 plane limited. Heinkel has a clear solid film of it. You are just flying along and hear 2 or 3 pings and explode. Theres no one around. No one gets the kill. The 3 or 4 times it has happened to me since I have been in a AH has been the same way. More like i colided in mid air then was shot down.

There is no 32 plane limit.

I think those of you who have experienced this have connection, firewall, router or all of the above problems. Too few have complained when you consider how many fly this sim.

If you would spend the dime and ask HT about it, I am sure he would help you all.

In all honesty since I havent been playing lately I havent witnessed these events but I do know I would be kinda hard pressed to explain it as a connection issue since I have kik ARSE dsl with a high ping time of 10ms to the ht servers with Zero % packet loss

The one time that it happened, for sure, in my mind.  There were no other planes at all in the area. No friend or foe.  I was at a back field testing something.

I will say that since threads have started. I have never had it happen again. The threat of being caught on film, maybe?

Your connection doesn't mean squat if the server, and/or bandwidth at the server, is overstressed.

There's more than just your end in this equation Rickod. It involves multiple routes, multiple routers, and most importantly server side bandwidth... I'm almost positive the server isn't reaching "stressful" load yet... I'm almost positive, however, that the server side bandwidth/connection *IS* being stressed very hard.

I just switched from Verizon DSL to comcast cable and I'm running the cable threw a D-link 804 to mine and my daughters computer. I am having to relog because the planes just show as dots with no icons. I was in the CT asking If anyone could see me and they couldn't, nor could i see them. I was in a swarm of warping little dots and fired blindly and got a kill, although nobody saw my tracers and I didn't see any smoking plane ( just a kill in the text buffer) I relogged and then things were ok. Same thing has been happening in the MA, I do have films if anyone is interested Mainly HTC. IN last TOD 2 weeks ago we attacked the b-17 formations and was chewed up by p-47's escorts which i never saw.

So on one hand we have "quotes" saying there is NO Limit (details Vs. dots) and others that experience the opposite.

I've personally never stopped to count, but doubt "MY" computer can see more than 32 ( after that it may be dots). But will it pick up the closest dot and draw the plane? IF it takes time for the server to update , what is this update to closest plane time???? If it is a minute that would explain why I was chewed up by planes I never saw.

Rude it must be a mass hallucination because EVERYBODY at Sniper's flyby saw it and all the films showed it.

First time we got the event areana and did the big buff mission we could see the problem. The bombers could not see the interceptors. By the time they drew all the buffs and all the escorts...there was no room for the interceptors. so they just flew through the formation unapposed.

He may have upped the limit to 64 or 128...but there was and is a limit I bet.
