The banning of Fester
« on: June 27, 2002, 10:55:38 AM »
I've known Fester (aka: citabra) for a number of years now. Through the times of Air Warrior before AOHell and here in Aces High. He's an excellent stick weather you're flying wing or fighting against him.

He hasn't said anything that I haven't said at one time or another while flying, and thank God i've been able to control my emotions, (for the most part :D), after being double teamed or any screw ups made while flying. This game is a high energy/emotional release for me and for alot of others as can be seen by some of the posts on channel one. All I can think of is: "There but for the grace of God, go I"

Hitech, pyro, and company have been doing a great job in keeping the rhetoric down to a minimum and I'm grateful for that. I can't stand some whiner coming on and mouthing off about one thing or another that they "percieve" to be cheating etc...and it really bothers me when they have to resort to cussing someone out and not knowing when to stop.

Fester has had some issues with the gameplay and has mentioned them in earlier posts. I noticed for the past week or so he's been, shall we say, "pushing the limit" and making it known he was pissed. He placed HT in a position where they had to act, and It's sad they had to take the drastic step of banning him. I hope it's not permenent as I believe he was just venting, albeit in the wrong manner. Fester has contributed to my enjoyment of this game conciderably, and he has always tried to be vocal about how to enhance the performance of this game.

I hate to see good sticks leave AH for any reason and I hope this can be resolved. We've had too many leave already and i'd hate to have nothing left but the whiners who don't contribute anything but thier uneducated malicious opinions. IMHO

For those tuning in late in the ball game, what did he do to provoke being punted?

Can't say I agree or disagree since I'm not privy to the circumstances that lead up to it

I too like Fester...
I was rather shocked to see this thread regarding Fester being banned...

I do not know the circumstances that brought this about...
But I do know that we all must live according to the rules or suffer the consequences...

There cannot be any exceptions !!!
If HT would start letting people break the TOS agreement on a basis of bias due to "Well he's a good Stick" or "Im sure he didn't mean it" or "He's been around since creation" It would be a slap in the face to the entire community...

I know I have blown my cork before and have been told to kill the profanity or get muted... etc...  And like you said Nomde... "But for the Grace of God, Go I"

As much as I like Fester,  "If he did the crime he must do the time"

"I hate to see good sticks leave AH"

I don't care what they do to him; but I fail to see what his 'flying' skill has to do with any decision.

Exactly Otto. If you see the other thread where Fester insulted somebody's Nationality, just because they were flying a VVS plane, and VVS squad, you can tell he is taking this game waaaaaaaaayyy to seriously. This is a game, to insult a nationalty over it, is just taking it too far.

I hold his skills in high regard.

To fly this sim well, particlularly when flying against the ever increasingly numerous competent sticks that populate this place requires more than skill.. well, it often seems being the very best means being very agressive. Hard to be super agressive behind the sticks and polite on the radio. There is no doubt I fly better when I'm infuriated. Gettin really pissed makes me a significantly more dangeous pilot. I just ain't willing to crank up my angst like that everytime I get in a plane. But that's just me.. and definitly not 'ol Citabria.

I don't hold Cit's agression against him. I deplore his 'burn bridges' flame-out from the sim.. nobody should resort to the kind of name calling he slipped into, IF WHAT WE SAW WAS IN FACT TRUE.

If so, he screwed up badly, then he should pay the piper for it. If HTC decides to ban him, fine, thats the price to be paid. Makes no diffrence who he is, how much he spent, etc.. if he did it, he's gotta pay the price.

I would hope that he'll be allowed back eventually.. just as Nath was. It would appear that all of us need to take a break from time to time.  The more agressive folks sometimes come to the 'time to take a break' decision voulentarily.. sometimes it's a forced break.

In any case.. hope he's back one day. And I hope he didn't do what everybody thinks he did. Shame if he did.. I'll have lost a lot of respect for him if it's the case..

Citabria/Fester. A worthy adversary, a respected wingman.

Don't misunderstand me, I believe "If you can't do the time, don't do the crime"

HT is correct in banning anyone for breaking the TOS.

Really Sorry to see Fester/Citabria go.

To be honest I saw the thread with the screenshots of his antics and he knew exactly what he was doing and what the repercussions would be, so I'm sure even he wouldnt dispute HTCs decision.  That kind of thing cannot be allowed especially since this game is played by kids too.

However AH has lost a truly great stick.

What is it about talented people who cant seem to get their head straight.  Think of all the truly talented people from all walks of life who have ruined things for themselves by their behaviour, Georgie Best, Alex Higgins and a few others spring to mind:(

Hope he uses this to realise that he can't just lose it like that and hopefully he can come to an arrangement with HTC soon.

"Great Sticks" are the ones who give you a when you shot them down.

"Great Sticks" are the ones who help out a newbie.

"Great Sticks" are the ones who volunteer their time and lifestyles to bring us fun, enjoyment in AH in the form of Scenarios.

"Great Sticks" are the guys that fly a goon when you been working on a field all morning trying to capture but no one will be a goon.

Great sticks definition goes far beyond skill in Air to Air combat.

Cita was a good stick,he was far from a "Great stick"

Wasn't Fester that guy from the Adams Family who put light bulbs in his mouth. I didn't know he was still around, let alone flying in AH.

Ripsnort, I haven't flown the gooney much.  But I have done everything else.   By coincidence I am going to start practicing dropping troops in the TA.   Rip, when you shoot me down I have saluted you, and when I have the couple times (shot you down) you have saluted me.

Masher, oh, i mean Karaya2.

You and that damned Hurricane bro.  See ya up there.

If he had to slam nationality in a game, than that is not proper.  This is a game, a game, and that doesn't give the excuse to commit those acts.

Right on ripsnort.

I've vulched Drex on takeoff & gotten a from him.
Do that to Fester and you'd get or worse.

Class always tells, some have it some don't.
