maybe new way to stop the reset GB
« on: June 28, 2002, 10:10:40 AM »
how about this.

make it more profitable to win the reset, say 50 or 75 perks
per catagory.

to keep 2nd place in # of bases / #s from just gangbanging  with #1 to coatial to reset, how about 2nd place get - perks say
15 to 30. too many times 1 country nowdays just totally stops fighting the leader in# of bases and just GBs the other country to
reset cause they dont lose anything. this would force them to fight or lose points.

3 place say -5, or nothing as it is now.

to give example of what i mean.
couple days ago, Rooks win reset. map goes to islands. from the point of reset we are avg 30 pilots logged on for rooks, never more then 40. during same 5 hours Bish n Knits avg 70 to 90 per
country.  in those 5 hours they both never fight, just attack rooks
resulting in a bish walk over reset, as they took more of our bases. Knits never tried to take bish bases for win , just GBed us. at the end Bish won by like 20 bases over knits and thier whole
front line between them was exactly the same bases they started with on the map.

2nd place needs bigger incentive to try for 1st, cuase there isnt  1 now, and most time they wont try.

How about this!

 1) Third place loses nothing
 2) Second place loses 50 perks
 3) First place earns 20 perks

Man, that'll make the gang-bangers think twice before they start ganging up on someone... There is a reason for the second place country to actually 'stop' someone from being banged, ally itself with the miserable third place country and overpower the largest one, so they can become #1 themselves.

If this rule is introduced, when numbers are pretty much equal, all three countries will carefully engage each other strategically.

When one country is teeney, and the rest two are humongous, the largest two countries will mainly fight each other, with the smallest country relatively free from all that Mongol-Hoardish gang-bang crap.

When one country is huge, and the rest two are teeney, the smallest two will naturally be inclined to ally with each other and drive off the largest one. (Because, when the large country pushes in, while the two small countries fight amongst themselves, the harder they fight against each other the higher the chance of losing perks. The better you fight, the better your chance of being 2nd place at reset, and lose perks!! Muhahaha!)

This, IMHO, is a revolutionary and simple idea which will totally obliterate the gang bang crap in it's entirerity!

Losing perks...bad idea..you will see hordes of people switching sides, or in my case....logging the heck off!

I work hard for my .5 perks per sortie, and to see them gone on account of furballing countrymen...no thanks, I'll be watching ESPN before that happens :)

I have another Idea... reduce perk points awarded by the difference in numbers at the time of reset.

For example:
Country A has 150 players
Country B has 25 players
County C has 100 players

Country A wins the reset against country B
If all numbers are equal, country A would get N perkies

However, this number is reduced by (150+100)/2/25 = 5 perks.

Once a country gets down to that last 2 or 3 bases, folks start to log off, they give up.

now if a country with fewer numbers resets a country with greater numbers, the perkies increase!

Kweasa,

What you are proposing has occured in nearly every reset the knits have won while I have been on.  Especially if it's close.

The middle team attacking the leading team does nearly nothing to relieve any pressure from the loser.  Basically you hold them by the throat and put out the fires caused by number 2.  In effect it prolongs the endgame.

Its fun and exciting for 1 & 2, but makes 3 beg for death.

changes to the perk reward won't do a thing to change the gangbang one bit.

Bingo, they're (perk points) just fluff on the cake, the "cake" is resetting the country, winning "king of the hill".

I prefer to think of it as "Wool on the sheep."

sorry , but i just don't see this "gangbanging' by 1st and 2nd teams for the reset , team two has nothing to win. i think it's all in your minds.

the team in 2nd place should be attacking the 1st place team and will be advising this on team channel but there are always uncontrolable mavericks and unknowing newbes who will attack 3rd place team.(this does not apply in the middle game when things are fairly equal but in the end game when one team is down to a few bases).

last night when i logged on the bish were down to about 5,6 bases, knights were behind rooks by 10 bases. the knights attacked in force in the north and tied it up at the reset, rooks took the last base so won the tie-breaker.   good fight rooks(S)

Don't want to start a problem here, maybe this has been hashed out before, but...

Why not just go to a two country war?  I am sure there's a good reason why there are three sides, but I am unaware of them.

     Just throwing that in.  :)

Ok so for a completely different point of view, I don't mind being on the recieving end of a good GB now and then.  It gives you the opportunity to play totally defensive and once in a while grab back a base or 2.  Which when you're outnumbered is a lot more fun then when you outnumber the other guy.

Regarding perks, many nights I have earned 30 to 40 perk points defending the last of the bish bases with my little la5.  If you have time to get a bit of altitude over one of the remaininng bases (10-12k) you'll have all the E you need to slaughter newbie vulchers in their N1Ks and La-7s.  Earning 5-7 perks per dweeb killed is often more rewarding (perk wise) than winning a reset.

Winning the reset is fun simply for talking a bit of trash to the loosing teams.  (who by the way have been scoring big perks killing you and your team-mates.)  So I say, who really cares, if you're getting gang banged, make the most of it.
