I didn't want to discuss settings for an alternate arena in the other thread. The idea is that the Main Arena needs to stay the same for the sake of beginners and vets who like those settings. So keep the main but add an alternate arena to try out some new ideas and more historically oriented settings.
Here are the kind of things I'd like to see:
-No radar display except in tower or in aircraft which had radar.
-Text or voice based GCI in flight. Automated system which gives you direction, distance, and height estimate to nearest bandit which is on friendly radar. User can also specify a sector for the controller to search.
e.g.
"User: .gci
System: Bandit 15 miles, 200 degrees, 15,000 feet."
or
"User: .gci 9,5
System: Nearest bandit in 9,5 sector 72 miles, 33 degrees, 3,000 feet."
-Airfields/vehicle bases/strategic targets give automated raid warning when enemy units enter visual range. E.g. "System: V22 is under attack!"
-1:1 Fuel multiplier.
-Enemy icons for type only. Friendly icons for handle only. Icon distances per the scenario settings.
-Retain 3-country setup.
-Each country can fly planes of all nationalities.
-Rolling Plane Set. Each day of the tour represents two months of the war. Planes are enabled on the day which corresponds to the month of the war in which they entered service in a combat theater.
-Rare Unit Perks. Perk values are not based on quality, but on quantity. Planes/vehicles which were introduced very late in the war or saw little/no combat (F4U-1C, Ta 152, Ostwind) are heavily perked to make them rare in the arena.
- Turn off any "crutches" in the physics modeling. HTC have done a great job on the physics, but they have added a few things to lower player frustation levels. E.g. automatic WEP shutoff on planes other than P-47, auto-brakes that prevent plane from nosing over, combat trim, etc.
That's all I can think of for now.
