First of all..
TAC: the reason AH minimizes is because you have Mk1a or Mk1 of Roger Wilco. You need to delete that and download the BETA .54C. It's on the main page, but make sure it's BETA. That's your problem with the game minimizing.

I get Dumped to Desktop rarely. Oddly enough, it occurs only in the TA or SEA. MA everything is fine. I had one hard lockup in the SEA during BUSC's event where I held down KP7 and kept pressing and lettin go of KP5.

I have a Celeron 466 not o/cled
ZooM 56K ISA Internal modem
Voodoo3 2000 PCI
6GB HDD, 3GB free
Saitek X36F/X35T USB
SB Live! Platinum with latest drivers, do not have Liveware 3.0 installed.

Hi Pyro. Here are the answers:

1.- Only crashes to desktop. No Lockups or freezes.

2.- 1.03

3.- Quite random. Typically I would get 2 crashes per day.

4.- No.

5.- PIII 450 No overclock.

6.- Matrox G400 32 Mb. In-box drivers.

7.- SB 128 PCI

8.- 7.0a

9.- Old, old F16 - Fighterstick. Serial nr. 2.000 something. That means no programed button working. Only axis.

10.- Tried, but unable to get it to work. I tried last version.

All in all, I can live with that, and I think the game is awesome. Keep the good work, and thks.

Pepino.

Hmm, most of the people who posted problems are using DirectX 7.*. But how could this cause lockups?

I have posted this stuff before. So I wont repeat info. As you know I had the hard lock problem as long as I played. It got worse with last release.

Running disc cleanup, before i played, still helped quite a bit. Hope this info was of some use to you.

1- Are you experiencing crashes or lockups? -

Yes hard lock ups req power off.  Also

2- When did they begin, what version and patch? -

1.03 all patches

3- How often do they occur? -

Randomly sometimes in tower but usually in flight but usually within 15 minutes.

4- Any other information about them? -

Before i cured em i noticed the majority seemed to occur whilst using hat on joystick to access views whilst in combat, suggesting stick would have been being moved at same time. But also experienced during a plane crash, a total screen red out and comp locked up req reboot.

5- What your CPU type and is it overclocked? -

P3 450 OC to 560 but tried at 450 still same problems.

6- What is your video card and driver version? -

Aha now it gets interesting, Creative Geforce 256 DDR 32meg, current drivers are 5.30 i can use 5.22 as well with no problems.
As i said above i cured my comp of these problems because they ONLY occured when i was running the newer 5.32 drivers when i got real pissed with it i tried older drivers and all was fine again.
Another wierd thing i noted with the 5.32 drivers was if i enabled the FSAA AH would not run at all, on loading the first screen would be completely scrambled and unreadable the only way out was a hard reboot. Too much of a coincidence i think that i have both these problems only with one specific vid driver.

7- What is your sound card and driver version? -

SBlive Value 1024  drivers version 4.11.01.0711

8- What version of DirectX do you have installed? -

DX 7.0a

9- What is your joystick setup, i.e. type of stick, throttle, and pedals, usb? -

Saitek x36 USB

10- Do you use Roger Wilco and if so, what version? -

0.54

If it would help at all i could reinstall the 5.32 drivers and run some tests? Although i suspect i would swear a lot

1- Are you experiencing crashes or lockups? -
Yes, the game crashes everytime I try to start AH with Roger Wilco running and not online.  A small dialog box opens and states "failed to initialize" along with an OK button.  Clicking ok returns the computer to the desktop.

2- When did they begin, what version and patch? -
1.03, no patch

3- How often do they occur? -
Unless I close out RW and log onto my ISP prior to starting AH, 100% of the time.

4- Any other information about them? -
The crashes occur at the same time that the clipboard would initially appear. additional note: I have channels set and saved in RW.  I cannot fly in the offline mode unless I am logged into my ISP.  Sounds are missing, notably engine startup and shutdown

5- What your CPU type and is it overclocked? -
Pentium II 400mhz not overclocked

6- What is your video card and driver version? -
Graphics Blaster

7- What is your sound card and driver version? -
Soundblaster Live! (not the value version)

8- What version of DirectX do you have installed? -
Direct x7, no patches

9- What is your joystick setup, i.e. type of stick, throttle, and pedals, usb? -
TM FLCS, TQS + CH ProPedals all thru the serial port

10- Do you use Roger Wilco and if so, what version? -
Version included with AH 1.03

MiG
p.s., will fill in hardware versions when gaming computer is available

1- Are you experiencing crashes or lockups? -
I am getting system lockups.

2- When did they begin, what version and patch? -  I had a rock solid system till ver 1.03.

3- How often do they occur? -  Variously. It took a long time just to get my system to open ver 1.03.  I have progressivley gotten AH to run better.  Better cooling, "run safe" bios settings, new drivers, reinstalling everything.  I am currently getting lockups about 1 hour into a session.

4- Any other information about them? - Nothing of note.

5- What your CPU type and is it overclocked? -
PII 400
6- What is your video card and driver version? -  Viper 770 ultra  Driver 4.0  I tried the newer drivers and couldn't even enter AH.

7- What is your sound card and driver version? -  Vortex II  4.06.2048

8- What version of DirectX do you have installed? -  7.0a

9- What is your joystick setup, i.e. type of stick, throttle, and pedals, usb? -
CHB f-16 fighter stick, pro throttle, Thrustmaster Elite pedals

10- Do you use Roger Wilco and if so, what version? -  RW .45 I load it but don't use it yet.  AH not stable enough to bother.

Just like I stated above, most of you are using SB cards or chipsets.  (Except for killjoy, who has a system almost identical to mine.  I have never heard of a 4.0 driver though for the 770 ultra.  4.01 and 4.02 are the earliest available.  I'm using 4.02 without a single problem.)

What about me then? SB Live no crashes? Previously I had an AWE64 and same, no crashes.

I wonder if its a TCP/IP related thing?

Bah, you are all beginners.
I have any type of problem.
The curious thing, is that I have them with the new PC.
With the old one, I don't have any of these problems.
I thought the Joy it is dealt with, but is not as, if changing joy, I eliminate the problem of the freezing, but I have other types of problems, lookups, redscreen, " Host connection Lost ", are most common.
They are revealed approximately after around 10 minutes of play.
I have required the re-assemblage of the PC, with processor and different HW.
I await that they deliver me him, for behavior new tests.
But I fear by now that the problem is Software.
Everything is initiated one Sunday afternoon, after a reset of the AH server, the version of the program in use was the precedent at 1.03, full patched.

I don't have problems using this Hold PC:
P II 300 Mhz. not overclocked
RAM: 128 Mb
Video Card: Power Color Intel 740 8Mb.
Power Color Voodoo II Accelerator 12Mb.
Sound Card: CM 8330
DirectX 7.0a
joystick : MS Sidewinder FFB Pro - no USB
No R.W.
O.S.:Win 98 se

******************

My torture is initiated with this New PC:

P III 600 Mhz. not overclocked
RAM: 128 Mb
Video Card: TNT Ultra 32 Mb.
Sound Card: SB AWE 64
DirectX 7.0a
joystick : MS Sidewinder FFB Pro - no USB
R.W. 0.54
O.S.:Win 98 se

********************

Cheers!

Max
