Breaking News: New Map Kills An Online Sim
« on: July 07, 2002, 11:05:51 AM »
Just logged off AH, once again frustrated by the new map.  AKs did a good job building a map, but the fact is it is way too big for the current player base.

Unlike some, I do not care to spend the large majority of my time flying and flying to get to an enemy field so I can risk the ack to kill the one aircraft there.

I have done all the icon shutting down stuff, so that you can actually see where a red dot or dar bar is.  Way too spread out.

Heres a fun trick, let your squad tell you what field they are at, and try to find it on the map.
Yeah right, way to jammed with stuff to read field numbers.

The concept of the big map might have been a little too ambitious at this point.  Maybe we/I can get used to it eventually, but for now I think it took alot of the fun out of the game.

Sadly, after hearing there had been a reset I logged on to try 1.10 on a new map.  Unfortunately I found the pizza map still in place.

Now I expect there will be some posts telling me I am a whiner, etc.  I guess some guys dont feel anyone is entitled to an opinion if it isnt the same as theirs.  I pay my monthly bill, I can feel as I want and I can express it.  That is after all the way HTC can get a feeling about the community feelings to differant aspects of the game.

I am going out of town tommorow, wont have a chance to play for about 10 days.  If that pizza map hasn't been replaced or rotated at least by the time I get back, I think it will be time to close my account.

The game wont suffer due to the lose of one player like myself anyway.

Only HTC can determine if your opinion is suitable for the bb here, same for you as for me. Mine happens to be that you are a whiner, not for expressing your opinion but for threatening to quit if you don't get your way.

Several seem to think they have the right to squeak without being squeaked at for squeaking. Don't count on it. :p

Type '.move base#" to find your squad. Used to work anyways. If it does, put me on for a free month as your AH trainer as I'd hate to see you closing your account with your lip dragging on your shirt when I can provide you easy direction.

Well if you wanna label yerself a whiner that's yer business.

Instead of askin yer squad what base they're at, ask what base they launched from and then type .move ###

I wasnt keen on the map at first, hell,I wasnt keen on the bombing at first!,but we NEED BIG maps, furballs are all fine and well, but what about us Buff pilots? we got to get to alt for our missions, without having to pass through or near a damn furball,or what about the guys who like low level strike ops on factories/airfields?,a big map caters for everyone,by spreading out the damn furballers, giving the rest of us the chance to play the game the way WE want,Aks did a good job on the map, though Id like to see a map that incorperates desert, grassland, snow,in different parts of it,I think that would add to the feeling of taking territory far away from your 'homeland'.
The canyons? hmmm not too keen on em,and the alt of some of the terrain, but like the new concept of the bombing,Ill get used to it.Whatever way I look at it,the game HAS changed for the better, and will only get better. :)

Mine happens to be that

Yup AK, that was as predictable as the sun rising in the morning.  You dont like what I say so you call me a whiner.  If you can't discuss with fact, you result to insult. Kinda shows you lost the arguement already.  I am not threatening to quit, I am planning on quitting if it doesnt change.

It wasnt offered as a threat, and I sure dont expect HTC to worry about my one account.  It was offered as a statement of my plans.  Let HTC decide if they give a rats bellybutton about our feelings.

Creamo, thanks for the offer, but I know about the move command and I have already used it on this map.  The fact remains that this map is too crowded with fields and empty of players.  I just dont like it.

If you need to go to where your squad is, just go to roster highlight one of your squads name and hit go to, that simple.

Dago,

If it time to quit then by damned, its time to quit :)

PS: There are some excellent terrains in H2H and some damned fine opponents there as well.  Big plus is some of the terrains commonly used in H2H are tiny...eensy weensy.

Cheers m8

Dago:

There are different ways to express ur opinion. The way u go is the way a whiner goes. Check ur subject check and check ur threat that u will leave the game. Man, it's a new VERSION with new experiences. Post ur arguments pro and contra this map in a mature factual way and u won't be called what u are: A WHINER.

Until yet i have rarely seen one single thread that tends to discuss this map in a soundly way.

BTW do u really think this will be the one and only map?

Edit: Sry if i offend u but my patience reading 1000th thread about the map is gone.

I am with Dago 100%. It's a dollar vote. We can vote for by paying or we can vote no by not paying. Whining it is not. Calling some one a whiner is an attempt to suppress them from giving their opinion.

This is an atrocious map. I realize that some one (AK I think) put a bunch of work into building the map and well I appreciate the effort. However, it is horrible. I just don't like the pizza pie look or the alts of the bases.  It could also be called the milk runner's special. Do you realize at full capacity that would leave about 2 players per field? Further, it was really warpy when I last flew on it. I had been flying about 100 hours a month and now I can hardly bring myself to play I think I have flown once or twice in the new arena. It use to be so much fun (Just a week ago).

Like Dago, if something doesn't change soon I will leave and spend my entertainment dollars where I will get more satisfaction.  WWII online is starting to look good to me.

And you really don't see this as a threat? It's not even veiled.

You don't have to be a whiner, it's probably not in your genes, just don't whine. Or be a whiner if you want, don't expect to not be called on it though.

U can do what u want to do its ur money and ur live.
For me if someone say do this or that or i will cancel my account is like my little brother piping down until he gets what he wants - won't change anything!

Look at all those threads. I'm sure HTC and the AK's will change the things many players don't like.  But as i mentioned above childish threats are not the kind of style i like.

AKs will take any thing said against thier map as a whine, cause
they made it.

yes we needed a bigger map, but 4X bigger is too much. as much as the 1x map was crowded iwth 400 players, the 4X map is too
sparcely populated  with same 400 players. instead of a 4x bigger, maybe HT should/shoulda went 2X.

the Pizza map, and other 4X maps will be great when we have
400 players per side. but right now with 150 per side at max, its just tooooo BIG.

THIS JUST IN FROM THE NEWS DESK!!!!

BREAKING STORY!!!!

AH EVOLVES! New Features Added! Old Features Changed!

Some players like it! Some don't! Some don't even notice!!!!

Some players take short term view: "Give me my old AH back NOW or... or.. .or.. you KNOW what I'll do!"

Some players take long term view: "Hmmm. This is different. Let's see how this plays out and what adjustments they make in the next few weeks. After all, HTC has ALWAYS been a very customer-oriented company."

2 things here, First, I don't remember attacking anyone. I just stated my opinion in a mature and factual way. You did not. 2nd, If your brother paid you 15 dollars a month you would listen to him because he would be a customer. Like I said, Customer's vote with dollars. You should really stay with the subject instead of attacking the messenger.
