Yesterday (Monday, Australian time) I took the day off work so that I could play during peak hour (sunday night, US time). There were 400+ players online, and I had some of the best fights so far in AH. When the server is full, the new map is supurb!! There is enough space for all kinds of action, from milkrunning bases, gv only fights, all the way to huge furballs.

I just wish there was some way to compress the action a bit more for the normal times that I play, when there are usually 60-80 people online.

LLBM, my old friend, please dont speak for me.  Maybe I am that 1%, but I am not boycotting anything. I do think this arena is too big for the number of users that are usually loged in. But I have flown more in 1.10 than I did in 1.09, and like most of the changes this map represents. This map is the best one since beta, the MA is NOT for realism types anyway. The colors don't seem to bug me like they do others. I love having high-alt bases, and I love the canyons and the balanced geography. I also like the dots being harder to pick up, ever try to see a dull painted plane one kilometer below you while in flight?

I also LOVE the CT, I don't fly there much because there's seldom many people in it and never anyone in it that I can wing with.

Edbert sometime when you have the time check out the ct on tues and thurs night, thats when my squad, VF27 Hellcats, and a few others fly, its a great time.  If you would like to join a ct squad you can do so and still remain with your ma squad too, always looking for quality pilots in the ct.  Right now there is a new IJN squad forming in the ct the 27th Sentai, sure you can find it in the squads section of the BB, if that is not your kink of plane we could always use a good stick in the Hellcats. Not trying to recruit you away from the MOL just giving you a few options.

You're right about the gameplay sorting out Pops. I put in a bit of time the past few days and although my original squeakes with this map haven't changed, the MA has started to mature a into a very fun and playable arena.

Maybe adjusting the fuel modifier a bit would help , along with some other tweaks.

Just a note to give the AK's and HTC a HUGE for all their hard work and more importantly for all the crap they've been taking lately.  I am truly amazed at the amount of grief thrown at a group who has spent hours and hours trying to make our community better.  Ok, maybe there needs to be tweeks here and there.  That is all they are are tweeks.  We all learn by trying things new.  Seeing what works and what doesn't.  I think we all should be grateful that the whole community gets to work on new things when they come out and not have them stuck in a beta mode for months.  Suggestions and opinions are wonderful if they are in a constructive tone.  The AKs and HTC have worked their butts off and don't deserve the crap.

Thanks guys!

I don't understand some of the complaints here.   I have never had a truly difficult time finding a fight on the new map.  Even on the very first night, things were spread out, but I was still able to find several bomber formations to destroy.  I tend to stay away from the densely populated areas, but when I want to join a nice big furball, I can usually find an area of hot activity.  I think it is great that you can choose the fights you get into.  Last night was a great example; I wanted to participate in a ground war.  I spent the first couple of hours capturing V70, which had a nice combined Air/Ground defense going.  After that, our squad searched the map for some bases for Jabo runs.  After the first couple of bases, I searched the map for a place where I could really mix it up.  Not far away was a sector with a real heated battle going on.  I ended up logging off, but if I had the time, I'm sure I would have joined the battle raging in that corner of the world.  Every night I am on, I see similar activity.  I think it is refreshing to be able to avoid the dense battles of the old maps if you want to.   On the other hand, I certainly have not had a hard time finding a fight on the new map either.

100% agree Coach!

HTC deserves to be treated better than this.

Even after 15 years of software development, I know I could not design and develop a game like this, and I'm pretty sure most of the folks on this board don't even have a clue where to begin.

It's easier to critize than do.

I'm really disappointed with the whiners and the complainers.

I saw this same thing happen on Everquest. the Developers opened a board for feedback and discussion and it ended up as a squeak session for loosers who don't have a life other than to critize other people's work.

Guess what, the board was shut down - it was more noise than signal - and not worth the time and effort to maintain.

HTC thanks for the great game!

tracerx... if you have ever hunted (or even had anything to do with) buffs then we will probly never agree on what a "fight" consists of.

let's just leave it at this.... you have no idea of what I like to do and what I consider fun or even "finding a fight" so for you to say that I am wrong when i say that I can't find a fight is ridiculous.

 To those so stupid,

I have been playing this game for a while now and YES I LIKE IT!!! The thing I dont get is all the complaining about "this map is to big" "what I have to calibrate my bombsite" or "I have to fly forever to get anywhere". Let me tell ya something. This is a video game, not real life, ya ya I know kiss my ass. Well HTech and crew try to make seem like its real as can be. This I think is pretty neat, considering all some of you want to do is kill kill kill. This is ok but, there is more to it than kill kill kill. Hmmmmm..... Well I seem to be wasting my time because you are sitting there saying kiss my ass, bite me and a lot of stupid words you can think of. Getting to the point DONT BASH A GOOD GAME!!! You really have no room to talk because you didn't create it!!! So anyway enough from me.   Keep up the good work High Tech.  Good Hunting

zeroping... you appear to be havinfg touble with analodgies..   The 'smashing yoiur toe with a hammer" comment was meant to imply that if you found the current MA boring then going to the CT would be like smashing your toe with a hammer in order to cure a headache.   The obvious is that the CT will always be more boring and have less action than the MA so there is no point.   The CT will also be axis vs allied so..... less variety..  moving there increases your pain if you like good fights  that are easy to find and have action and variety.

An "area arena" would not cause any more "pain" in the arena for anyone but could be of enormous value.  If you found no value in it then you could continue on as allways with no extra pain involved for anyone.

so... let me be the first to point out that, your comment is far from being clever.   In fact, it is pretty lame.   The fact that you have resorted to it on 3 occassions would imply that you are both lame and dimwitted.

Actually paying 14.95 a month gives everybody a right to voice there opinions.Preferably without being labeled a winer.I just recieved squad e mail saying Hajo is looking into other flight sims. His arguments are not only valid but seem to be developing a grassroots following.I have no clue as to whats involved in making a map but I have to say for the most part the pizza map is a great effort.Other than the GV's being tough to see and a few other things this is one great pieca work. Now the problem is those of us like Hajo and myself log on in the am EST USA and there is a 1 hour waiting time to find any kind of a fight. Then you have to sector jump indefinetly to chase them.My joystick went out on me and Im not jonesin a bit.I get home at 6am log on and theres maby 30 people on in MA most in GV's sneaking maps or milkrunnin bases. This map doesnt cut it with low numbers and therein lies the problem. What works fine for the masses on at night really doesnt provide the same amusement in the am.I like you AK's.Always have so dont take this as personal. This map at this time in the games hystory is all wrong in an overall scence.Nothing is ever going to be perfect for everyone at once but the offset of enjoyable gameplay between night and day is to big. Those thinking about going to another game wont affect the ones that fly at night and have no problems finding fights. But there will possably be a ghost town effect in the early hours.I dont think anyone wants that. This map half the size it is now would make a big diffrence. We just dont have the player base to pack it all the time.
1 note about telling people where you are.Tell them the sector you are in.They can find the base easily.
  Thats my 2 cents worth.
The Flying Circus. Were just like you.Only prettier.
